Bresciano blames Man City

Friday 2 May, 2008

Only details prevented Mark Bresciano from joining Manchester City and he feels that contributed to "the worst year of my career."

The Australian international had agreed personal terms with Sven Goran Eriksson’s side in the summer, but the deal collapsed when City refused to pay upfront, insisting on completing the £5m transfer in instalments.

“It was tough to recover from that psychologically, because everyone – including myself – was convinced I would go to City and instead it all crumbled.

“When I managed to get myself focused, I didn’t play very much because of physical problems, but my motivation was never lacking.”

Bresciano was as disappointed as anyone by the dismal Palermo campaign, as contenders for a Champions League spot ended up only narrowly avoiding the relegation battle.

“This has certainly been the worst year of my career. However, difficult campaigns are the ones that help you grow. It has been a strange season for myself and the team.”

Yet the 28-year-old Australian is not taking a summer transfer away from Sicily for granted.

“I have been happy in Italy and Palermo, so there is no other place I would prefer to be,” he insisted.

“There’s nothing to say I have to leave. I must talk to the club and see if there are any concrete offers. Let us say that at the moment I am 50 per cent sure to remain with the Rosanero.”

Just another nail in coffin that we have had no money available to us as promised. The £48m we forked for 8 players in Jan window...that was Sky money wasnt it? What exactly is going on.

Don't you start. Lots of money had to go towards clearing debts remember.

Whatever we think about Sven, and it is outrageous that he might go in the summer, the stark reality is that without Dr T we would have been staring down the barrel of relegation and probable financial ruin without him.

I don't wan't Sven to go but I still want City to be in the Prem where we belong.

Yes it's true, of course I want City where we are (highest ever finish?) and Thaksin seems the prince with a passion but I wonder liquid he really is.

As for Sven going, I cant believe what I read. Absolute madness, Let us hope it is tabloid wank.

Scolari - unproven at club level.
Mourinho - never coming to City.

Who else is better than Sven and available?!

Isn't that if we get 8th spot?

True, but then if he comes we have to let go of Ireland or Elano.

Said it once i'll say it again. Bresciano is crap. Decent squad player at best.

Bought a club with at least a saleable asset of GBP25 million (you know who)? Plus with Sky money available to look good?

Now why couldn't we have pulled that trick off?
