Luckily we sold him. He is a great talent but stupid, the yellow card he got with Italy against Mexico is proof of that.

Mario Balotelli hopes he will get the opportunity to return to Manchester City with AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League.

The fiery Italian frontman headed home in January after two-and-a-half incident-filled years in England.

Balotelli helped City to Premier League and FA Cup glory during his time at the Etihad Stadium and holds fond memories of his stay with the Blues.

He would like to return one day in opposition colours, offering him a chance to thank the supporters who took him to their hearts, and it is possible the 23-year-old will get his wish this season if both City and Milan can make the knockout stages of Europe's premier club competition.

"At the moment, I only rate Messi and Ronaldo above me, but that can change this season."

Mario Balotelli

Balotelli said in the Sunday Mirror: "It is a dream to play against Manchester City in Europe.

"I had a good time there - and had a lot of success there. I still have friends in Manchester and I would like to go back and say hello to the fans that were so good to me.

"There is never an easy group, but it is a much better group for City than they have had for the last two seasons and I expect them to qualify.

"It would be mixed emotions, going back - because I would be going there to win, but I hope Milan meet them in the knockout stages."

Balotelli has also revealed that he has his sights set on becoming the best player in Europe, with the Italy international confident he can find the level of consistency displayed by Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi and Real Madrid's prolific Cristiano Ronaldo.

He added: "I want to be the best player in Europe and I want to prove that this season.

"At the moment, I only rate Messi and Ronaldo above me, but that can change this season.

"I am playing good football with Milan and I want to be number one in Europe. To do that, I must perform well in the Champions League.

"We have a tough group. Barcelona are Barcelona and Ajax have some good young players. The atmosphere that Celtic make in Europe is famous, so we also know to expect a tough game."

In addition to the automatic one-match ban, he was given an additional two games for "directing insulting and intimidating [/b[b]]expressions to the referee at the time of the sending-off," the Italian League confirmed.

Balotelli ban has come because, as from ref's official report, Mario told to the ref: "I kill you! You will pay for this!"

I like Mario, but I'm happy we got rid of him. Although his replacements are older (Jovetic/Negredo) they are without doubt (currently) better and more reliable.

Simple question: would you have wanted to see Mario on the pitch in Sunday?

Thread end.

Berlusconis had enough and is putting him up for sale.

I'd have him back in a heartbeat.

I was thinking the other day how much more professional we are under pellers this season, this has much to do with no longer having Balo and tevez.
Getting him back would be crazy, for the first time since the takeover we are "bad apple" free.

Rumours he's been offered back to City on twitter.

No thanks. IMHO all our 3 strikers (and Jovetic maybe) are better than him. Happy he's gone... along with Tevez.

AC Milan have released a statement in which they specify that Berlusconi never said that Balotelli is for sale now.

I'd take balo back in a heartbeat tbh, despite the crazed and possibly disruptive effect.

really?

That shit's been and gone for me. He wanted to leave, then left, then found out he maybe didn't like it so much elsewhere, then what? he'd just come back here and happy days? i wonder just how motivated he'd be under those circumstances. he hardly busted a gut the first time round.

no thanks.

that's all probably entirely true, and i'm not being realistic or anything but i'd still have him back. and then i'd be as disappointed as i finally became with swp when he came back. mario's probably better than dzeko, certainly better than guidetti, and seems adept at winding up the rags.
