For those of you that don't already know, they've announced a reunion and next year they could be playing some UK shows.

Quote:
Neutral Milk Hotel are set to play a 'globe spanning' tour next year, most likely including UK shows.

The cult band recently announced plans to play their first live shows since 1999 in the US and Asia.

A new interview with the band's agent Jim Romeo from Ground Control Touring posted at Pollstar says that they will be embarking on a full world tour in 2014. Romeo explained:

"Everyone is very excited which is great. People should know that they shouldn't get discouraged if they don't get tickets to these few shows, there will be some more fall shows announced soon and a much longer and fuller tour planned for 2014 that will span the globe."

The only dates announced so far are gigs in Athens, Georgia (October 22-23), Asheville, North Carolina (October 25), the Hostess Club Festival in Taipei, Taiwan (November 28) and in Tokyo, Japan (December 1).

Neutral Milk Hotel have been on hiatus since their last studio album – 1998's 'In The Aeroplane Over The Sea' and its subsequent tour.

Aside from a 2001 live album and a 2002 album of Bulgarian music, the band have been keeping a low profile – although singer Jeff Mangum played a string of solo dates in 2010 and curated ATP at Butlins in Minehead in March last year.

In a bizarre statement on their website, the band announced their five upcoming shows.

The touring line-up will consist of Mangum, Scott Spillane, Julian Koster, and Jeremy Barnes.

If you're not excited, you should start to get excited.

Whereas I would have thought it was a perfect example. You being facetious SEC? Cos THAT. WAS. SHIT. I just listened to two songs of theirs, and it reminds me of the myriad jizz froth that the 90's vommed up for us. I hope they sell out Oldham's brickies arms and everyone has a reet old knees up. :)

They're playing here on the 25th of October BUT you have to by a 3 day pass to a festival to hear them - electronic festival - which is a weird fit. Still may plumb the $300 so I can se them.

On a non-facetious note, their album 'In the Aeroplane Over the Sea' is an all-time classic. If you choose not to check it out ... It's your loss :p

Yep. So much going on there. One I rarely listen to but love it.

The title track is glorious.

I managed to get tickets for both shows here in Chapel Hill. Should be quite amazing.

Saw them last night. First 45 min was brilliant, last 30 tedious and encore fantastic. Have tickets for tonight as well but may just watch the first half.
