Seems Keane's got a fan club on here , but I'd much rather see Alonso in a city shirt . I think hes exactly what we need in the centre of the pitch right now .

I think he will still end up their before the window closes unless he has a bad injury. Liverpool will sell a couple of players and get the cash together.

Its all brinkmanship. I cant see how he can be kept at the club after whats been said.

I used to like Alonso. Now I'm indifferent.

he's like a quarterback spreading the passes around. but this doesnt always suit games, as when getting closed down quickly he is as effective as a quarterback with no defensive wall in front of him.

I like him as a player, but I'd rather see us developing Johnson so he can utilize his passing ability to spray the ball around the midfield.

Alonso's quite easy on the eye but he does have a very steady paced continental style, unsurprisingly. Not how i see Hughes' teams playing i think.

You know what's put me off him? He's started shooting from anywhere. Hate that in a player, me.

Not sure he'd be in my top ten of the last decade, but he was a very good servant for the club. Knew when an opposition player needed kicking did Gaz Baz.

Would've thought we'd be better off selling him than loaning him though. By the time he comes back he'll be 33 or something and have even less sellable value. We should've made Martinez give us £5m of his Fellani money for him.

Last year of his contract anyway so next year he's gone for free. I liked the rumour about him staying for another year and moving to NYC FC at the end of it.

All the more reason to get something for him now. I bet we'll still be paying a percentage of his wages this season too, as we normally do.
