Liverpool with a strong side out but are absoloutely shocking tonight. FC Gomel should be at least 3 up, Joe Cole did his Hamstring after 20 minutes

Shite this, been all FC Gomel who should be 5 up and Downing scores

Thought Carroll may have started tonight, not even in the 18.

Rodgers is pissing me off a bit saying he won't sell and rather have him sat on the bench all season, Think he may be a last minute Newcastle player.

Rodgers is in a tough spot of his own making.
Went public in more or less saying he had no use for Carroll presumably in the hope of inviting bids?
Ended up with only one on the table and one which represents massive loss on a deal with the club who sold him to you for daft money the year previous.

It's a bit like buying a Picasso you thought was the real thing only to find out its a fake.
No matter how long you stare at it you have to face up and cut your losses at some point.

Seems a funny one that Rodgers is looking to get rid before he's really spent any time with him. I think managers often like the idea of being able to develop a young player with a bit of raw talent.

Carroll must be
a) a complete twat
b) completely fucking hopeless
or c) all of the above

or maybe Rodgers has just been a bit daft.

You know who Andy Carroll really reminds me of?
Gorgeous Georgious Samaras.

I think he might have a bit more natural ability than Samaras but not much.

Hmmm, meh, maybe, nah. Carroll's more willing to get stuck in and attack a ball. Samaras would wilt away from any kind of physical contact with defenders.

Samaras was better looking hough, particularly these days with his 1970s cast of Jesus Christ Superstar beard.

The problems all began when Carroll was transferred for about double what he is worth. He then went to a club that did not play to his strengths and he has struggled.

None of which are actually his fault. At the end of it, he is actually a very decent striker. Another case of a transfer ruining or sidelining a dude's career? Just ask SWP.

That must've been bollocks about West Ham offering £17m for him or Liverpool would've ripped their arm off.

Teenage Premier League star Raheem Sterling has been interviewed by police over an alleged attack on a woman.

The 17-year-old Liverpool and England player was questioned under caution after Merseyside Police received a complaint of assault.

He was not arrested and attended the police station by prior appointment, Merseyside Police said.

The 27-year-old alleged victim suffered "slight" facial injuries during an incident in Toxteth, Liverpool, earlier this month.

A police spokeswoman said: "Merseyside Police can confirm that a 17-year-old male from the Woolton area was interviewed under caution following a report of an assault on Friday, November 2.

"A 27-year-old woman received slight injuries during the incident in the Liverpool area.

"At this time, the investigation is ongoing and no formal action has been taken."

The Jamaican-born teenager made his international debut for England last week against Sweden and has earned plaudits for his performances for Liverpool this season.

Liverpool FC has made no comment on the matter.

Anfield landlord seeks compensation over Liverpool stadium blight• Homeowner says club has deliberately run area down

The owner of two houses wanted for demolition by Liverpool to expand their Anfield stadium has said he will not sell without significant compensation for years of blight in the area.

Graham Jones, who together with a business partner owns No63 and 65 Rockfield Road, behind the main stand, accuses the club of deliberately running the area down from the mid-1990s by buying up houses in the neighbouring streets and leaving them empty. At least one house the club owned in the row of terraces on Lothair Road was entered by vandals and set on fire.

Liverpool city council is buying the houses Liverpool want knocked down, threatening legal compulsory purchase orders for any owners who refuse to sell.

Of the 72 houses on both sides of Lothair Road, one side of Alroy Road, the corner of Rockfield Road and on Anfield Road, the council has revealed that eight remain a significant distance from having deals agreed. Fifty-one are already owned by the housing association Your Housing, the council or the club, which bought 10 between 1996 and 2000. The council says it has agreements in principle to buy 10 more and is in advanced negotiations on a further three.

The remaining eight are owned by four private landlords, including Jones, from whom the council is seeking to buy for a price reflecting the area's shattered state. One landlord, Paul Mahoney, whose company, MGS Estates, owns 5 Lothair Road, accused the council of "acting as a puppet of the club" in forcing people to sell so the club can expand Anfield and make more money. But he said he is likely to agree a deal.

Jones, however, told the Guardian he and his partner believe they have lost £500,000 in rent since the area declined and they have struggled to find tenants for the houses, which they have now allowed to fall derelict.

"Anfield was your average working-class area until Liverpool began buying houses and leaving them empty because they wanted the streets knocked down," Jones said. "It was dereliction by design, and the council allowed it. We've said we're not interested in their offer and we want our day in court."

The council leader, Joe Anderson, acknowledged that "the people of Anfield have undoubtedly been let down in the past and more should have been done to protect residents and owners from blight over the last decade and more".

Unveiling new plans for improvements to the area, which has suffered from years of delay and U-turns by the club on its stadium proposals, Anderson emphasised the importance of making practical progress now and said: "It is worth noting that the only owners with whom we have not reached agreement on acquisition are private landlords who do not live in the area and whose interests are purely financial. We will not allow a handful of private landlords to stand in the way of plans which will benefit everyone."

Mark Kitts, the assistant director of regeneration, described compulsory purchase orders as "the approach of last resort" but said the council is prepared to use them if necessary to force Jones and the other landlords to sell.

"We are confident a CPO will be successful, on the basis that we have a good plan, with wider economic benefits, which people holding out would be frustrating," Kitts said.

Liverpool have apologised and launched an investigation after their Twitter account appeared to mock the Munich air disaster.

@LFC asked fans to suggest three tracks to be played over the Tannoy at Anfield ahead of Sunday's meeting between the Premier League's two fiercest rivals.

One fan apparently responded by suggesting three songs making fun of the 1958 tragedy in which eight Manchester United players died.

The songs were Come Fly With Me by Frank Sinatra, Always Look on the Bright Side of Life by Eric Idle and I Like to Move it by Reel to Reel, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The Monty Python song has been adapted by some who chant "Always Look on the Runway for Ice" while Reel to Reel's 90s dance track has been switched to "I Like to Munich, Munich".

The Liverpool account, which has 1.9m followers, then tweeted back: "Have you been sneaking a look at the dressing room iPod?"

After a deluge of complaints the offending tweet was deleted.

On Friday Liverpool released a statement saying: "Liverpool Football Club responded quickly to correct the error of judgment that was made last night on it's official Twitter account in responding to a distasteful and inappropriate tweet. The club took decisive action and the comment was deleted swiftly. "We apologise, unreservedly, for any offence that was caused by this mistake."

Liverpool have launched an internal investigation into how it happened.

A Manchester United spokesman said: "We welcome the apology."
