So, what is people's opinion of Paul Ince getting the Blackburn job? Bit of a risky appointment IMO. He's done a good job at MK Dons and Macc Town but it's a huge step up but it's good to see a young, English manager getting a chance. I suppose if you were a Blackburn fan you could thank your lucky stars the rumours of Fat Sam or McClown didn't come true.

He'll do well for them. He has managed to turn two teams around at lower levels. He'll hav the respect of the players and most importantly he'll have a board who'll support him over time.

I think it was a matter of time. personally, and i've said this to people for a year or so now, i think Ince will be England manager one day. He did amazingly well at Macclesfield, and superb at MK Dons. Someone had to take a punt on him.

the thing i couldn't believe was that they wanted Shearer, who has never managed. And yet Ince has a terrific record as a young manager.

Shearer is an arrogant arse, who will mouth off, but never make the move.

At least from what I have heard of Ince, he has an idea from being at United and Inter what to do. The Macc side he kept up was the same lot that was struggling. He made a couple of changes to the background set up and it worked very well. He's got the basics, didn't jump in at the top, and so fair play to him.

Doesn't have a pro licence, or even a B licence, yet the Premier league give him special dispensation to take the job. I suggest they only said yes cuz of fear of being called racist if they didn't. I know others have been ok'd before who didn't have the qualifications, but they're usually already in the process of getting it. I believe Ince once started the course and quit after a few weeks. They've set a precedent they may regret.

I'm sure he'll do OK, trouble is I can't shake off my hatred of him as a player. He was a dirty niggeling fucker always in the refs ear.

Too true. I think it's a good appointment. According to teletext he's the first black, English manager to manage a top-flight team

The only other black man to manage a top flight team was Ruud Gullit.

Aye! Ince is the first Englishman. I hope he does well, can't see him dragging them into a relegation battle or anything. From what I've heard, MK Don's have just shook his hand and wished him the best, not many managers can say that their old club did that. Suppose Mark can though

Edit: Just as a side though, isn't that now 4 ex-rags managing in the Premiership?

You just don't see many black players making the move over from player to manager. I don't think it's a race thing, I just don't think many choose that path.

.....or maybe Carlton Palmer set an unfair president. :D

Did Tigana not do it with Fulham?

All we can do is hope that when Fergie leaves, Beckham takes over :D

Wahey. My memory is working:

Tigana: He took over as manager of English club Fulham F.C. in 2000 and helped them to promotion from the Football League First Division to the Premiership, and later the UEFA Cup (via the Intertoto Cup), but was sacked in April 2003

Somehow I think not.

The current crop of rags who have moved into management seem to have all done a decent job thus far, especially if you include Stachan and at league level McClown. Infact the only one I can think of who fell flat on his arse was Kidd.

Edit to say.....and Brian Robson.

Aye... Can you see Scholes doing it though? Couldn't see him of Giggs becoming managers, and defo not Van Der Sar

They would have to go down the route of Ince and work their way up IMO. It's what Alan fucking Shearer should do rather than hanging on to the hope that KK gets the bullet.
