Serie A champions Internazionale have sacked manager Roberto Mancini.
The path is now free for the English-speaking Italian tactician to join Chelsea with the ex-Leicester striker reportedly on the club's shortlist.
Mancini, who guided Inter to an impressive third successive Scudetto last season, is now the firm favourite to take up the vacant post at Stamford Bridge.
The club have revealed Mancini's comments following their UEFA Champions League exit to Liverpool was one of their reasons behind the decision.
The former Lazio and Sampdoria marksman stated following their defeat to The Reds he would quit at the end of the season only the change his mind just 24 hours later.
"Internazionale have informed Roberto Mancini that he has been sacked as coach, in particular because of the comments made by the coach at the end of the Inter-Liverpool match," read a statement on the club's official website
When it says 3rd success are they counting the one were ac milan won but it was awarded to inter becuase of the match fixing? anyway have we still got his son at city?
