Welp. We are the Champions of Asia
We beat the 2012, 2013 champions, 2013 runners up and 2013 J-league champs in our run to the final. Then beat Al Hilal 1-0 (0-0) over the 2 leg the final. Only 14 of our fans were allowed in to Saudi Arabia due to visa issues (lol). Al Hilal's owner also bought 60,000 tickets to the game and handed them out to their supporters. None of the team buses showed up for any of the wanderers events over there. The staff had to wave down taxis and pay locals to take the players to their training ground and on the day of the final Al Hilal fans parked their cars on the road to block our bus! There was a sweet laser disco on Ante Covic's face all game during the second leg too, it didn't help them one bit
To be fair, they should have smashed us... They were horribly off target over both legs and when they were on target Covic bettered them. Both legs had amazing atmosphere. We had the whole stadium singing at Parramatta, and they had some great tifo's at theirs. Having said that, they were a bunch of whinging, cheating scum, trying to stomp on our keeper during both games, headbutting, spitting on our players and then trying to fight them after the game, and yet they got best and fairest in the competition!
Between 5000-6000 fans made their way down to Parramatta's Centenary Square on Saturday at 4:30am to watch the second leg, flairs, chanting, singing partying the whole time. It was great! I don't know how many fans welcomed the team home at the airport but it was ridiculous! just a sea or red and black
Covic had 2 of his best games for us but he is up at that form every game. Great keeper.
