Last night the Wanderers won the Premiers Plate with a 0-3 win away to Emile Heskey's Newcastle Jets! 10,000 of a 22,000 strong crowd made the trip from Sydney to Newcastle to watch the Wanderers win the league in their first year as a club! The atmosphere was great! It felt like a home game! We finished the season on a 12 game streak without losing and an 11 game win streak. We're going to the Asian Champions League next season! Bring on the finals series!

I dont know how much you hear of the A-League over there, but this club has done amazing things in their inaugural year- highest average crouds, best away support, loudest crouds (look up the RBB) beating the A-League's longest win streak by 3, playing a pretty game, a clear community outreach program, and, winning the league! We just need to keep this form up for the finals series. All this from a 9 month old club, that was created in 140 days, that only had 5 players 2 months before the season started.

COME ON YOU WANDERERS :approve:

All that just highlights how shit all the other teams are.

Port can fuck off. So can Wanderers. Glory wrote the template for proper aussie football clubs (big crowds, thuggery, racism etc).

It doesn't highlight how bad the competition is. Yes, the A-League is of lesser quality to what you are all accustomed to, but for a league in its 8th year, competing against much bigger sports already well established in the country it is doing very well. The problem with football in Australia is money, population and the size of the country, and a lack of professional teams that would necessitate a relegation/ promotion system (which is being drafted up and planned to be implemented in 2015).

highlights from the game

The awesome support they've been getting

Their rise has been meteoric, considering this is their inception season and favoured as wooden spooners. Big crowds and unfort some fuckwit and violent fans (west sydney innit).

Do I hope they win? Yes and no, their cinderella story is great but mariners have been to the final twice without taking owt home. Also, the A league seen this before, big crowds and some success/es, Glory used to get 16,000 to a game in their prime, now they avg 9,000.

All this is good for the league/game but we are very faddish us ozzies.

All too true. Especially our faddish nature... If we don't win the grand final I'd imagine a lot of the bandwagonners will leave.

No, GA, 'we expect nothing' is more accurate.

Gobs, mate, I ain't even australian anymore, I used the term to try and sound like one. Fuck knows what is accepted in the vernacular anymore?! I apologise.
