Last Christmas you gave me Joe Hart
The very next day you took him away
This year to save me my Tyrone Mears
Im gonna give him to someone special

Once bitten and twice Barry Fry
I keep my distance but you still catch my eye
Tell me baby do you look like Bellamy
Do you have an odd shape head just like Vinnie Kompany

etc....

Sky showing Zola taking coffee out to the reporters outside his house. "You've been here all morning, so i'll make you some coffee. You know i won't answer your questions, but i'll do you coffee".

What a lovely fellow.

was he that shit though? considering the financial fuck up that west ham have been involved in, the destabilising factor of owners flogging players from under his nose, new owners criticising him so publicly it's despicable and also having fuck all money to spend...

does alright with the england under 21s though doesn't he? and they're looking at having him handle the 2012 team.

anyway -

Avram Grant to stay as West Ham manager

Grant's side are bottom of the Premier League on 20 points
West Ham are "committed to retaining Avram Grant as manager" after reports had linked Martin O'Neill with his job.

BBC Sport understands that O'Neill, who left Aston Villa in August, decided over the weekend against taking up any offer to succeed the 55-year-old.

West Ham are bottom of the Premier League but have won three of their last six games under Grant.

The club said is a statement that "potential transfer targets" had been identified in a bid to beat the drop.

Allegations in Tuesday's Daily Mirror newspaper that vice-chairman Karren Brady had asked some of the players to "rise up against Avram Grant" were also categorically denied.

The Hammers said they intended to find the source of what they called "unhelpful and untrue" comments and would remove them from the club. They added that their lawyers were now dealing with the matter.

606: DEBATE
Now that the cracks are being papered over let's hope everyone - Gold and Sullivan, the vice-chairperson, the players, and the fans - get behind Avram Grant

Blog4Irons
The backing given to Grant by the board has been reinforced by co-chairman David Sullivan.

"The entire board is 100% behind Avram," he told ESPNsoccernet.

"He is a really decent person who deserves our support. West Ham United is a club that does the right thing and the right thing at this time is to support the manager.

"We will do all we can to bring in players over the next 12 days and once we have achieved that we hope it will keep us up. I urge all supporters to rally behind the club at this difficult time."

A loan deal for Manchester City left-back Wayne Bridge has been West Ham's only move in the transfer window so far, with much speculation focusing instead on Grant's possible departure.

Reports had claimed that former Celtic and Leicester boss O'Neill was likely to take up the reins after Saturday's match against Arsenal.

West Ham made no statement about their managerial position immediately after the Gunners' 3-0 win, although they have now stepped in to make their position clearer on Grant.

Despite Brady's claim in November that the Israeli would "almost definitely" be in charge of the club at the end of the season, Grant's position has seldom seemed secure.

In mid-December, it was widely believed that Grant's job was dependent on him securing a win in his next three games.

After a draw away to Blackburn, his team met that apparent ultimatum with victory over Fulham before also picking up a point against Everton.

Earlier this month, owners David Gold and David Sullivan refused to comment on Grant's position following a board meeting but reports suggested if he was to keep his job the club would have to avoid relegation.

Brady speaking on Grant in November
Grant is a little over seven months into a four-year deal he signed after previous boss Gianfranco Zola was sacked.

Zola's departure came after West Ham avoided relegation by five points with a 17th-place finish in the Premier League.

Grant was in charge of the financially stricken Portsmouth side relegated from the top flight last season but managed to galvanise the team for an FA Cup run that went all the way to the final.

During his time in charge at Chelsea, he came within a penalty shoot-out of delivering the Blues' first Champions League trophy in the 2008 final and his West Ham side have also excelled in knockout football.

They will take a 2-1 advantage to St Andrew's for the second leg of their Carling Cup semi-final against Birmingham and made the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 2-0 win over Championship side Barnsley.

Although money may be made available to Grant, his purchases while at Upton Park have only been of limited success.

Striker Frederic Piquionne has scored seven goals since his arrival from Lyon, but Mexico winger Pablo Barerra and New Zealand defender Winston Reid have struggled to make an impact.

so after going public with the o'neill "appointment" they have scuppered that and are stuck with fester. well done porno-man and dong-salesman!

I watch a bit of horse racing during my day (work from home) and the guy yesterday that owned the winning horse (an 'outside' winner) yesterday was Barry Silkman. Yes, former City player and now player agent. Apparently also owns greyhounds and horses. The TV interviewer went over to him and not knowing him said 'hi, I believe you own this horse, may I ask what you do for a living?' He explained he was a football players agent, and most recent activity was arranging for the loan transfer of Bridge from City to Wham. The fucker was all teeth and cockney accent, he is MINTED.

He also said that he was confident Avram was going nowhere. It appears he is a Wham fan.

Anyone remember this guy?

more from the masters of man management at Wham

Avram Grant gets West Ham's backing but no extra transfer funds• Manager has £5m-£6m to spend unless he sells a player
• Club need at least draw at Everton, says Jonathan Spector

Avram Grant has not been handed extra funds to recruit players following West Ham United's statement yesterday backing their under-pressure manager.

The Israeli will have to continue working to a budget which gives him £5m-£6m to spend unless he sells a player, plus loan signings. Grant is concerned that rumours suggesting he would be sacked after last Saturday's match with Arsenal, to be replaced by Martin O'Neill, have allowed crucial time to be lost in his attempt to strengthen the bottom side's squad.

West Ham said yesterday that they had "identified potential transfer targets to give us the best possible chance of retaining Premier League status". Grant has so far managed to sign only Wayne Bridge, a left-back, on loan from Manchester City and is continuing his attempt to add a creative midfielder and a striker. Tottenham Hotspur's Jamie O'Hara and Robbie Keane head the list for those respective positions and may well be loan signings.

West Ham have lost their past two Premier League games, 5-0 at Newcastle United and 3-0 at home to Arsenal. Grant's team travel to Everton on Saturday to meet the side they drew 1-1 against on 28 December.

Jonathan Spector is clear about the necessity to gain at least a draw at Goodison Park. The American said: "The aim is to go there and get a result. A point is OK but we go there looking for a win. That's what our focus will be on.

"We've had some pretty good results and are aiming to turn our season around. Hopefully, this game will act as a boost and serve as the catalyst to help us climb the table. The reverse fixture in December is a game we felt we should have won but we ended up with a draw. Hopefully we can go up there and get a win."

Regarding the defeat to Arsenal, Spector said: "Certainly it was a disappointing result as we wanted to build on the recent results we've had at home. We had a couple of great nights [beating Barnsley in the FA Cup and then Birmingham City in the Carling Cup] over the previous week and would have liked to have pushed on but it didn't happen.

"It was a tough game. You know they're going to have a lot of the ball because they're very good at keeping it, passing it and moving it around. We made it difficult for ourselves by not keeping it."

Spector, normally a defender, has recently moved into central midfield and could stay there as Scott Parker's ankle injury may rule him out against Everton. "I'm still getting used to it, but I'm getting more and more comfortable in that role with every game," Spector said. "I'm delighted to be playing and hopefully I'll be able to continue in there and learn the position more and more."

If I was Grant I would wait until 1st Feb and then resign, saying, "Now find a manager who wants to be relegated".

And then retire from football management presumably.
