Championship side Ipswich Town have confirmed Roy Keane as their new boss.

The Suffolk club have moved quickly to replace Jim Magilton, who was sacked by owner Marcus Evans on Wednesday.

Town have now confirmed Keane's arrival at Portman Road after agreeing terms with the former Sunderland chief on a two-year contract.

Keane left the Black Cats in December after two years in charge at the Stadium of Light, but he is now back in management after accepting the role at Ipswich.
Delight

"I am delighted that Roy has agreed to join us and we are completely aligned in our ambitions for Ipswich Town," Evans told the club's website.

"He has extensive contacts in the game and is a proven winner who encourages his team to play the attractive football that Ipswich Town fans have come to expect.

"I believe he is the right man to take this club where we want to be - the Premier League."

Keane himself was delighted to have joined the club after penning a two-year deal.

"I truly believe that I am joining a club that has the potential, ambition and infrastructure to once again be a Premier League side," said Keane.

"The club's owner and chief executive impressed upon me their total focus on achieving this quest at the earliest opportunity and I can't wait to get started."

I think this is a really smart opportunity for club and new manager. Good chairman/owner and set of fans. Also represents a chance for Keane to properly cut his teeth and progress. he is only 37. I think that's a pretty good bet that Keane will get them promoted with in 2 seasons.

Why do I hate Keane less as a manager? I just do. I think he will be a very, very good manager. C^nt of a player and bloke though.

Great news. He's moved not far from me. Now I can go down there and give him the twat-crunching shoeing he's been waiting all his miserable life for.

*gets twat-stick*
