Downing's a left winger and his delivery is on a par with Petrov. He can control it and bang it in hard and early better than anyone. If we can pick him up on the cheap he'd be a great squad player.

I'd take Duff over downing.

Plus Downing's English so that automatically bangs an arbitrary extra £5million onto his price tag. We've got the money and the ambition for much better, so lets not settle for second best.

Downing's turd. Vastly over-rated.

I hope everyone realises that City will get Owen from Newcastle. You just know it.

squad player, decent scorer, do well enough in a large squad that has cover for the 60% of games he's injured for. plus all the players will be so minted they can afford to go along with his gambling. owen i mean. i'd still take downing as left wing cover as well.

I've never thought Downing was any good. In fact if we signed him i think it would be a real step backwards. What are we trying to do, consolidate as a midtable team? I thought we were trying to get into the top 6, and you'll never do that with mediocre players like Downing.

Course we're not trying to consolidate as a midtable team, you saying that is based on the fact you don't rate him. How many times you actually seen him this season? Not saying I've seen him loads but when I have seen him he's looked good and virtually everything good that Boro do has come through him.

Not this season, any season. He produces a lot of crosses, but they aren't the right kind of crosses.

Maybe everything Boro does comes through him, but that's not really saying a right lot to me. I just think there are far better players out there than him. And when Petrov's fully fit, Downing isn't good enough to lace his boots.

Isn't it funny how last year all the teams that got relegated got at least a point of us, even Derby! and this year it's looking like that as well unless Sunderland get relegated.

From Boro. Adam Johnson, Tuncay, Pogatetz just to add a bit of crazy.

From West Brom. Brunt looks good in highlights, but i reckon he's shite for the other 89 mins.

No one from Newcastle, Martins is too wild.. maybe Owen, not sure.

We dont need to pick at the scraps any more, but id like Adam Johnson, if that's his name, he looked good against us.

Hell, maybe Alves, we could do with another Brazilian.

David Wheater?

Was very good last season, not quite so good this season. Decent premiership centre-back, nothing special.
