Pretty much - George Reynolds decided that Darlington would be in the Premiership in five years, but rather than invest in the squad, he just built a Premiership stadium and hoped people would be conned into thinking we were a Premiership team. He also tried to sign Tino Asprilla, but on the day he was supposed to sign Asprilla disappeared and then apparently joined a Middle East club of some description. The building of the stadium put the club in Administration and because of the costs it is thought that the club currently runs at a £1M a year loss. Oh, and about two months after leaving the club, Reynolds was found guilty of money laundering after police found £100,000 cash in the glove compartment of his car; he had previously been in jail for being a safecracker.
In conclusion, George Reynolds was a tw*t who saved the club from administration when he bought the club, only to put them right back into it as he left.
