Officer resigns over BNP badge
A Greater Manchester police officer has been forced to resign after he was seen wearing a British National Party (BNP) badge at a football match.

Stuart Janaway, 36, of Rixtonleys Drive, Irlam, Salford, wore the BNP badge to a game at Old Trafford in September 2006, while he was off duty.

A misconduct hearing was held last Friday after an investigation by the force's Professional Standards Branch.

As a result, police said Mr Janaway was "required to resign".

'High standards'

Acting Assistant Chief Constable Terry Sweeney, head of the Professional Standards Branch, said: "Item six of the Chief Constable's Order of 2004...makes it clear that officers are banned from being members of the BNP, Combat 18 or the National Front.

"This requirement extends into the private lives of police officers and police staff."

Mr Sweeney said all officers are aware that the implications of not complying with the regulations "will likely result in [their] dismissal".

"The officer failed to live up to the high standards we demand of everyone serving in the force," he said.

Mr Janaway had served in GMP for 14 years and worked as a Pc based at Longsight. "

does it need an allegedly anyway mods?

City had one of the first intergrated firms in football...used to strike fear into opposition fans and nazis alike...before the Cool Cats City had quite a few right wing firms themselves.

It's sad...but i'm afraid this is all they know...you certainly can't reason with idiots like this...the only deterrent is to make sure you plant the seed in their limited IQ brains that if they engage in certain activities they will get hurt...like Monkeys in labs getting electric shocks if they do bad things

Elland Rd is the only ground i've been to where 'The Flag' was openly being sold outside the ground.

And they did a brisk trade.

Why didn't the cops lift them?

1 Offensive material.

2 Street trading without a licence.

A racist anti-immigration party stood for election around my way a few years back. My brother received a leaflet through the door. He phoned the candidate, read out the guys address and told him what would happen if he posted any more crap in the area.

It was quite common...like I said it used to happen outside Maine Road quite alot in the 1980s/early 90s...besides...half of the Police Force are probably paying members :D
