Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko has revealed that he struggled to survive the training regime at White Hart Lane after arriving in the Premier League.

The Russia international, a £13.8million signing from Spartak Moscow, is yet to score for Spurs and admits he has found it hard to adjust to life under Juande Ramos.

He said: "In England they have a different system of training. When there is a week's gap between games, training is serious. I barely survived it when I'd just arrived.

"I looked at my watch and saw that the training session had gone on for exactly two hours! Then another half an hour in the gym. Two and a half hours. Can you imagine that?

Pavlyuchenko, 26, told the Russian Sovetski-Sport newspaper: "I trained like never in my life before. The weights started to get to me, and I stopped and said to the trainer, 'I can't do this'.

"That's how they work - I'm shocked. I thought it would be a lot easier."

Jesus if thats the amount of training he does , hes a pussy..
Ive been watching a UFC access all areas on a hero of mine and another brazilian superstar..Wanderlei silva...
He training is fucking brutal in comparison..

6-8 hours a day..
2 BJJ (brazilan juijitsu)/ wrestling
2 mauy thai
2 cardio work
+weights and other stuff like sparring and wotnot..

These football players don't know their born...

wanderlei training
Ps. the guy in the black and orange shirt is murico 'shogun' rua. one of the best fighters in the world..

wandy's entrance to the ring
This the best entrance in the whole of sports . I get such a buzz from watching this i love the fella...

i guess there is more motivation to train though when a consequence of not training is getting the crap beaten out of you? :)

Well said mate..
But to be fair mma fighters are for the most like machines..Its the cardio thats their strong point..
A championship fight is 5 by 5 minute rounds, and someone like wand can go full on for that 30 minutes...

Football players on a average run around 11 miles per game. with lots of sprinting..
They train their bodys for a different type of punishment..i take nothing away for footie players.
Their sprint/rest recovery rates are astonishing really..

I hate to single out one person, but greasy ronaldo, has something that not many others have and thats the initial 3-5 yards pace..he is a full sprint within 4 or 4 paces..like a fucking gazelle..

Don't like him but he has to be admired..
