Team news: Ireland v Wales
Tuesday, 8 February 2011 08:23
Seamus Coleman and Ciaran Clark will both make their Republic of Ireland international debuts on Tuesday night when Giovanni Trapattoni's men take on Wales in the Carling Nations Cup.

Coleman has been one of the stand-out players of the season for his club Everton, while Clark has cemented his place in the Aston Villa squad under new mananger Gerard Houllier.

Both will start against Wales with Clark at left-back and Coleman on the right-wing in midfield.

Trapattonni has confirmed ten of his line-up and in yet to decide between Darron Gibson and Paul Green in the centre of midfield alongside Glenn Whelan.

Stoke City striker Jonathan Walters will make his first senior international start up front alongside Wolves' Kevin Doyle, having been introduced as a substitute in the last game against Norway.

Wigan's James McCarthy, who is yet to be capped at senior level by Ireland, is not with the squad after withdrawing due to tiredness. Robbie Keane misses out with a calf injury, along with Liam Lawrence and Leon Best.

New Wales manager Gary Speed has gone for an attacking formation and line-up.

Robbie Earnshaw will play up front along with Reading duo Simon Church and Simon Robson-Kanu in a 4-3-3 formation.

Aston Villa centre-half James Collins will captain the side. Joe Ledley and Ashley Williams will start on the bench after playing on Sunday.

Republic of Ireland v Wales at the Aviva Stadium in the Carling Nations Cup (7.45pm):

Was going to go with the young lad but then thought of the players on the pitch.
God, there are some awful players on both sides, not paying about €50 to see them.
