I am more gob-smacked by the Qatar decision than Russia. How the fuck is that justified. How?! And since when do they decide two WC's at same time? You didn't even know they were in the running until 2 weeks ago you see Zinedine Zidane do adverts for them (fucking good advert I might also say) and then BOOOM, 'yeh decision made, erm, 2018 and 2022 have been settled.'

WHAT TH FUCK?!

Sharia is a little known indie band not even up to the standards of 5ll.

I saw them at the Twisted Wheel in Brazenose street in 1965.

Dave Lee Travis was the resident DJ.

I have the ticket stub somewhere.

2018 given to a country where football isn't even the second most popular sport.

2022 given to a country the size of Bury.

But....

Both are rich as fuck and have oil and natural gas a plenty. Go figure.

Current positions in the Press Freedom Index:

Netherlands (3)/Belgium (14)
Japan (12)
Australia (18)
England (19 as part of UK)
USA (20)
Spain (39)/Portugal (40)
South Korea (42)
Qatar (120)
Russia (140)

Sound like two great countries for corrupt FIFA officials to do business to me.

Well if the 2022 one is in Qatar, the next one can't be in Asia. But knowing FIFA, a big sack with a dollar sign on the side could change that rule.

From Wiki:

"Under Qatar's Sharia, it is illegal to show alcohol or be drunk in public."

Well that's going to piss off Budweiser then.

FIFA is corrupt.

You really think a big country, with shit transport, shit stadiums, should have the World Cup?

The whole thing is bollocks.

England secured only two votes and were knocked out of the bidding for the 2018 World Cup in the first round, Fifa have confirmed.

England saw their World Cup dreams ended after Fifa announced Russia would stage the finals in 2018 to stage the event for the first time.

Russia saw off bids from England, Spain-Portugal and Netherlands-Belgium to win the secret ballot of Fifa's 22 members.

England's bid team were thought to have impressed Fifa's executives with their presentation on Thursday with Fifa president Sepp Blatter describing it as "excellent and remarkable" following the final presentation.

However, it has now emerged their bid fell at the first hurdle.

Fifa have confirmed the bid received only two votes and was eliminated from the process at the first round.

Fifa have released the voting figures which showed England won only one other vote apart from Britain's Fifa vce-president Geoff Thompson.

In the first round Holland/Belgium secured four, Spain/Portugal seven and Russia nine.

Russia then won an outright majority in the second round of voting.

In the 2022 contest, Qatar beat the USA in the final round of voting.

The news of England's bid only receiving two votes is sure to spark a massive inquest into the how the voting is carried out by the Fifa executives

By then our midfield will include. AJ, Wilshere, Henderson and possibly Milner. As they continue to develop I think we will definitely see better team performances from England in the next few years when the wasters i.e. Terry, Ferdinand and Lampard get out after living off club performances against sub-standard teams.
