I didn't realise the pants that Bentner displayed were Paddy Power branded. Fair play slapping that fine on him - fucker probably got at least that from PP. Players product placing during the game - shameful. Right after he scored too - he should be in raptures at scoring for his country, not trying to make a few quid. Bad form.

Play Milner in the center, he'd do a lot better than he does out on the wing. If Hodgson plays him there because he needs someone who's good at defending in front of Glen Johnson, drop Glen Johnson out of the plane on the way to the next match FFS!

solve the problem once and for all.

didn't Rooney do same for hair product or something during interview? Keane and Carragher said something about it.

Think he said he used some of Andy Carroll's 'product' before the game, without naming it (leading everyone in the country to assume it was AC's jizz).

Euro 2012: Sepp Blatter says goalline technology is 'a necessity'
• Officials failed to spot Ukraine 'goal'
• Michel Platini opposed to change in system

The Fifa president, Sepp Blatter, says goalline technology is "a necessity" after Ukraine became the latest victims of its absence from the game. The Euro 2012 co-hosts were denied an equaliser in Tuesday night's 1-0 defeat to England when officials failed to spot Marco Devic's shot had crossed the line.

Blatter, who hopes to convince the game's rule-makers – the International Football Association Board – to give technology the green light, posted on Twitter: "After last night's match #GLT is no longer an alternative but a necessity."

Blatter became a convert to goalline technology after Frank Lampard was denied a legitimate goal in England's 2010 World Cup defeat to Germany.

That failed to convince the Uefa president, Michel Platini – the favourite to succeed Blatter at Fifa – who remained wedded to his belief that additional officials behind each goal was the best way forward.

Yet, Tuesday night's referee, assistant referees and goalline officials all failed to spot Devic's shot had narrowly crossed the line before John Terry's acrobatic clearance prevented it hitting the back of the net.

That left Platini red-faced after he made bold claims on the eve of the game about the effectiveness of five officials. He told reporters in Warsaw: "With five, officials see everything. They don't take decisions without being fully aware. There's also a uniformity of refereeing. For example, they don't call unintentional handballs. That uniformity has led to more flowing football."

Platini also attempted to justify his opposition to goalline technology. "Goalline technology isn't a problem," he said. "The problem is the arrival of technology because, after, you'll need technology for deciding handballs and then for offside decisions and so on. It'll be like that forever and ever. It'll never stop. That's the problem I have."

Strange how hardly anyone has mentioned that the guy was offside in the first place. Ukraine weren't "denied a goal" at all.

I beg to differ. The guy who scored was behind JT when the ball was played to him.

I dont get all this goal-line-technology argument. it is an expensive joke.
we already have the means - television. Why cant the 4th official have access and then notify the referee?
But, whether yesterday was offside, he could also review it whilst the game is still flowing and call the goal (or not).

But the guy who played it to him was offside when he received the ball.

But not when it was played to him... which is the rule.

Can someone tell me what Scott parker contributes? He is a donkey. There were times last night when he was on the floor, stumbling about, flailing for balls in slapstick fashion. He is shit sandwich. I cannot think of any other English holding MF that could do better (Barry being fit aside) but frankly why not start a kid or give another liverpool player a shirt. So bad.

Playing like shit and still winning is the mark of champions. We're gonna win. Football's coming home etc. Milner has been more obviously turd than Parker tbf. Gerrard is playing like a man possessed and Andy fucking Carroll scored a goal. Also I vehemently disagree with your assertion in the opening line but I really can't be arsed to qualify that :TopHat1

* munich talk

Milner is no winger so it's hardly comparable. Parker has been flung about like teenage white chick in a black porn.

If you have actually watched the games then there is no way you would think that england were better than France (who had 70% possession), Sweden (5 way tie of england players for losing the ball the most, 15+ times each) and Ukraine who most definitely looked more comfortable going forward AND in defence than England.

You are through with more than a good dose of luck m'boy.

When something happens three times I'd say it's not luck but more a gameplan which has been shown to work. Yes a bit of luck has helped but it's mainly down to good defensive organisation. Whether we step up against Italy remains to be seen, honestly I'd rather have played Spain. Unfortunately Warnock said it best, said something like Italy are the only team we could have faced who do what we do better i.e. staunchly defend, suck teams in (hur) then beat them on the break. And regarding Milner his best game in a City shirt was against United where he played... on the right side of a 442, exactly like last night.

I'm inclined to agree with BBC; we've been shit, but not especially lucky - the teams we've played just haven't had the quality to see us off. A mistake that won't be copied by the Italians in all probability.

yeah, but not flagged so it would've been a goal that arose from a poor offside call.

anyone that gave a fuck about england would've been livid if we were denied that goal and went out as a result.

me? i'm a bit disappointed tbh. here's hoping the wops give us a fucking hiding.
