David James, Glen Johnson, John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Ashley Cole, Theo Walcott, Tom Huddlestone, Frank Lampard, Aaron Lennon, Wayne Rooney, Darren Bent

Looks like AJ and SWP will miss out unless they come on second half and really impress.

Why is he starting with lennon and walsnot...?

bent deserves a run out for a look..

But talksport have been saying that AJ has looked epic in training, and must go....

and huddlestone starting ...hmmmm should have been parker, in place of gazbaz, incase he don't make it...

huddle did nothing for me midweek...
parker is a good replacement for gaz if he dont make the cut..

im afraid sweep may lose out..But if he does for Aj..then its all fair i guess...

Been doing my nut in this has since yesterday.

You got players there in Parker, Dawson our Johnno all want to play for a place in the 23. I thought that these 2 games was what it was for, to get game time and impress.

You gotta right winger on the left where you have a natural left footer in AJ so why not give him a go and he can also play on both wings, give Parker a start as he has been immense for West Ham as has Dawson for Spuds.

There our about 6-7 players playing today who are already on the plane anyway.

Starting: James, Glen Johnson, Ferdinand, Terry, A.Cole Lampard Rooney, and perhaps to a degree maybe Lennon AND Walcott.

IMO should have started in their places. Hart, Carragher, Dawson, Upson, Warnock, Parker, AJ, SWP, Defoe

Well yesterday confirmed why i have no interest at all with England in this world cup........Fabio Capello.

Heskey for Lennon????? Waste of a journey for Johnno, Parker, Dawson and Upson.

Question. after the game Fabio said he knew his 23. Now what i'd like to know is if it was before the match, as if he knew his 23 before the game then i guess you should play close to your starting 11.

Players who i think will miss out. Dawson, Warnock, Upson, Parker, Johnno, SWP (though i am hoping Walcott) Heskey (though the Muppet will probably take him)

Never felt so pissed off before a World cup with mainly our manager.

Totally love Johnno to go but seems that Joey Cole will be going and can play on the left, and from yesterday we have Lennon and also perhaps Gerrard.

Gutted for AJ :(

Since his arrival his performances have been ten times as better as Walcott and Lennon. Joe Cole has done fuck all and is past it in my opinion, and it is fairly likely he will get injured in the first minute of the first game.

But as ever you don't entirely know what is going to happen. Maybe AJ has been awesome in training, so he left Walcott, Lennon and Cole to fight it out for the last 2 places. This means that Shauny will miss out but based on the second half of the season there is no argument really.

Walcott is so overrated it's untrue. I wouldn't take him.

I maintain that I have a better final ball.

Don't we all? Walcott is still living off his performance against Croatia away as well. It's annoying how most people can see how extremely bad he is, apart from Capello.

Capello strikes me as very set in his ways, and not open to other ideas.

He hasn't impressed me so far, but really he hasn't had so many chances to display his managerial talents, sounds like he is off to Inter after the World Cup, I just hope he can leave us after a successful World Cup.

As shown by the fact that he has given appearances to...

Hart
Green
James
Johnson
Baines
Cole
Carragher
King
[s]Dawson[/s]
Terry
Ferdinand
Huddlestone
Lampard
Gerrard
Carrick
Milner
Wright-Phillips
Lennon
Walcott
Cole
Johnson
Rooney
Bent
Defoe
Crouch
Heskey

in the last two games. [s]26[/s] 25 of 29 isn't bad considering only 17 players could get on the pitch in either match and Barry has been injured. Of the 30, only Parker, Warnock, Dawson and Upson didn't get an appearance where they could have done by my reckoning, so to say he isn't giving players the chance is a tad unfair.

If you mean he's set in his ways because he plays 4-4-2 most of the time, you might also notice England win most of the time. Perhaps not prettily and perhaps not convincingly, but a win is all we really ask of the team so to that extent he is succeeding.

My tip for the final 23 would be the 25 players on the list minus SWP and Bent (and then Huddlestone or Carrick if Barry is fit enough).

I see what you mean. But I have a feeling that Walcott, despite showing nothing since that Croatia game, and Heskey, despite showing nothing since the last century, will travel, without really meriting their place. Granted, he's open to the possibility of trying players in friendlies, but it remains to be seen quite how open minded he is to them when picking the World Cup squad.

Heskey has warranted his place in the squad through all of the international performances he's put in for the team. You know, when we win and he doesn't score - but the win is somehow all down to his team-play (according to the media at least). To be honest, if he's in the squad, he has to be part of plan A, he's never going to make an impact as a sub. Crouch is now ahead of him (or at least should be) in terms of the starting line-up, and if Crouch does become the starter, I can't see any purpose in him being in the squad. That said, from talking to my Sunderland-supporting mates, Bent is one of those players that can need about five clear-cut opportunities in order to get one on target, let alone actually score one. England is still desperately short of strikers. Rooney is world-class, undoubtedly. Defoe is a player that can be clinical when in form, but is nowhere near the same league. Crouch is extremely tall with [cliché time] a good touch for a big guy. I don't think there are any other English strikers even remotely close to 'international class' at the moment.

The thing with Walcott is that no matter how much he likes to play with no end-product most of the time, we all know that - on his day - he can be brilliant. I seem to recall him being the major factor in Arsenal coming back against Barcelona in the first leg of their Champion's League match when he came on as a substitute. So impact sub, perhaps, but no chance in hell should he be anywhere near the starting line-up.

I think you should field your weakest starting 11 and if things arent working out start lashing on the impact subs.
