Assuming all is fine with Barrys injury who would you drop from the England 30?

I think Capello will take a spare player to cover every position...so

3 goalies

8 defenders

8 midfielders

4 forwards

I think the following will miss out

Warnock - we already have cover at LB by the very unimpressive Baines...

Dawson - He will lose out purely because King is a better defender, despite being very injury prone

Upson - He has played regularly for England but see him missing out just....

I think they will take as Centre Backs King, Ferdinand & Terry and Carragher will be understudy....

Huddlestone - He is totally devoid of any skill in my opinion

Parker - I am assuming here Barry will be fit so cant see Parker going ahead of Carrick as Barrys understudy...

SWP - Although I am quite certain that Capello likes him, I feel he is behind Lennon and Walcott in the pecking order on the right, the only chance of him going is if Capello considers Walcott as the 4th forward

Bent - He will miss out because Capello likes the big man, small man combo up front...so will pick crouch and heskey as the big uns, with rooney and defoe as the little un's

I think Johnson may sneak in just, to understudy Joe Cole and will be used as impact sub

taking lennon already, so there's your right sided speed merchant, with slightly more end product than walcott.

now take johnson capello, you know you want to.

It all appears to be stories from journalists rather than any official announcements, meanig , I siuppose that the said players are going to make money fgrom their "I can't understand why I was left out" or "Fabio has ruined my life"* stories.

* I know how they feel Bastard.

Talk is (according to Oliver Kay) that Capello wasn't impressed when he 'naively' went for the shot rather than looking for a dive when he was in the box against Mexico. Don't know how true this is, but if it is then Capello knows little about the 'English spirit' that he was so vehemently advocating not so long since as key to England's potential success. Apparently Parker's attitude has been wank and that is why he hasn't had the chance.

How can Capello justify leaving AJ out, but picking SWP. Not that I have anything against SWP, I'm glad he's made it and is representing us, but lets be honest, if you asked any City fan who was better for the second half the season, I guarantee it would be Adam Johnson 100% of the time. So why has Capello decided to take SWP after vowing to take players who are in a rich vein of form.

Devastated for Johnson. What else was he supposed to do?

Wait 4 years.

By the same token how can he justify Heskey (No goals -hardly played) over Bent (LOTS of goals - plays every week)?

Johnno will get his opportunity once the Gerrard/Lampard/Cole generation is past it - he has to be looking at the next World Cup, and competing with Young and Downing for that starting place on the left-hand side of midfield. I don't think he would have made an appearance at this World Cup had he gone so it doesn't matter too much really - Lennon, Milner, Gerrard and Cole would all justifiably be above him in the pecking order for either wing.

+1

Heskey has been there for the qualifying campaign, Bent is too much like Defoe, only he misses the target more often.
