I have a liking for them, but with such talented players they employ a negative style. and this drives me mad every time. in the last world cup, the only time they bothered playing properly was in the semi-final against the germans and then returned to type in the final.

It's true they do have some great players but most of the time they do play that negative style. They have been quite successful though.

I do think the Italian team of more recent years is a little more justified to take that approach. Toni, Iaquinta, and Gilardino are not in the same class as a Roberto Baggio.

Looking for a McGrath like performance out of Dunne tonight.

Paul McGrath v Italy 1994

Unbelievable!
0:55 That's what I call reading the game.

that was a great game. when Ray Houghton scored, no one could believe he had actually scored. it took a few seconds for most to realise what had happened (that's how I recall it) and then jubilation when it dawned upon everyone. fantastic game and result that was.

Yes it was.

I don't remember anything from the match. I was 8 and it was about 3am. All I do remember was the pundit (Johnny Warren) at half time saying "Ireland are lucky to be 1 up"
Probably a true statement but being young with a lack of understanding, it really annoyed me. I was outraged. I decided to hate him from then on. He died of cancer a few years ago.... I still hated him.
