I recall the day I put money on Greece. "How old are you?" they said. "Fourteen", I replied. "Get out of the shop, you're too young".

Greece were also awesome in their own time. My dad has a very long term bet with me that an african team would win the WC in either 2006, 2010 or 2014. I think my prospects are good for an african shut out.

To be honest, if Rooney scored the winning goal in the world cup final, then I think the headline would be fairly adequate. He's the top scorer in WC qualifying in Europe, and unfortunately that warrants a bit of media praise.

Fuck off, he's the biggest c*nt in the world

That was a retarded bet on his part.

None of them have looked like becoming a top level team. And poor teams don't win the World Cup. Even average teams, really. It's not traditionally a contest where luck plays a huge part is it?

I know Pele said... yada yada yada but he's a mong

I know, he seems to think one will blossom from the ashes. I knew it wouldn't happen, usually any really good player gets poached by france or to a lesser extent belgium. Althought with it being in africa I could see one or two going far, no chance of winning though

How the wc will go for England.

A Solid 2-0 victory over peru.
a loss to argentina/holland
a scrappy 2-2 draw with sweden which does just enough to get them through the groups

a 4-0 hammering of some 2nd rate team that got lucky

then beat by portugal/germany. and ofcourse, it'll only be one players fault. I'm guessing with our luck it'll be joe hart, lescott or barry

I think this will be Engerland's best WC in decades. You can possibly win it with teams like Argentina/Portugal most likely not even going.

Rooney wants shotting. He's a fucking scouse, rag, cnut. A lower form of life doesn't exist. As a striker he is an amazing talent. The cliched 'handfull' for a defender but his achilles heel is his temper. See earlier comment about him being scouse. If he wasnt a footballer he'd be in jail, thug prick.

If Capello uses the wings; SWP, Lennon, Walcott etc you'vce a real chance. Route one football through Gerrard and that fat cnut Lumpa will get show up against any decent outfit.

We have a decent chance Danny but not a great chance.

Spain, Germany, Brazil, Holland, Italy then us I reckon.

David James or Green in goal? James will be 40 and Green is an average keeper at best.

We're weak up front but have middielders who can score goals so we might be ok there.
Will we create enough chances against the top teams though? I doubt it.

Agree with most comments here.

I just can't see it happening. Can't picture Heskey playing in a World Cup final.

Anyway, nobody from Europe has ever won a WC outside of Europe. It's Brazil's to lose IMO.

Not enough fire power up front. And it wouldn't be right having a world cup without England crashing out followed by a British media meltdown.

I look forward to this.

Most England supporters believe England are better than they are.

Brazil or Spain for me.

Only cos they get whipped into near hysteria by the red tops Danny.

A sensible discussion with any proper fan and we know it's going to be hard for us to win it.

However, the one thing about the World Cup and the European Championships is that, the best team often isn't the one that win it.

To win the thing you need a decent team that is together both on and off the pitch and a massive slice of luck.
No bad refereeing decisions no dodgy sending offs and no key players getting injured.

If England get that rub of the green in 2010 then we can win it.
Will we be the best team at the tournament? Almost certainly not.

Spain for me. England out in the quarters. Brazil out in the semis and Germany to make the final
