Right this is it. Come on England don't bottle it tonight and just win, and send us to South Africa. I am fairly surprised Capello started with Heskey but I can also see why he did it you don't change a winning team after all, and defoe has been doing well of the bench.

England have done great to get into this position, but I'm not looking forward to hype and expectation that's gonna follow qualifying tonight. If I had to pick one place an England team wouldn't do well I'd probably go for Safrica. I'm glad we're gonna be there and hope we do well (quarters maybe), but hearing people like Arry saying we're gonna win it is slightly annoying and only setting ourselves up for another collective hangover.

We lack a world class centre forward and that may limit how far we go but I can't remember a more confident or competant qualification.

Conk...

commentary have it bang on about emille pesky..
He does graft, and hold it up and bring others into play, but he's been offside loads and missed two sitters almost..

Defoe will make a second half stint. and he will shit the croat's up with his pace..

But yeah we needs a adebayor type up front..he pretty decent that bloke..:approve:

I think this is the best chance we have had of winning the world cup since 1970.

Our chance was Germany. We'll never get the better of Brazil or Argentina in somewhere like South Africa.

I think what people are forgetting, is that our summer, is South Africa's winter. It's gonna be pretty cold conditions over there, and that is the conditions England perform best in. This is our chance.

I think we've had a couple of possibles tel ben.

The trouble with the World Cup is that you need a bit of luck, you need players to keep their cool (Beckham/Rooney), and you need your key men fit.

Even then it's often not the best side that wins. Argentinia were awesome early on last time but got knocked out in the quarters didn't they?

I think we have the best chance of doing well in the finals for some time.
We have a reasonably settled squad and have some other good players looking for their chance.
More importantly perhaps, depending on tonight's results, some good teams may not be going. Portugal look unlikely, one of Germany and Russia will miss out, Argentina are in trouble, as are France.

I hesitate to say win. I said best chance to do well.

The problem will come when there are a load of warm up games when all the key players will be injued.

Considering what Croatia did to us the other year, I don't know whether to say this is an improvement or just Croatia getting worse. I'd say a bit of both?

I can say something about my team cos I know the situation.
Modric and Corluka were out, whole team as a group is currently out of form - its enough to say that on Saturday we had just one goal attempt against Belarus - and that went in, we almost lost that one. Starting XI today were a comedy, never played together in this formation, 3 of them played on their unnatural positions - you probably saw what Lennon was doing to that poor lad, Pokrivac, in the first half. Goalkeeper is story for itself.
Don't need to mention that England played very well today, hope they'll do something like this in Ukraine to help us, although we don't play football that deserves World Cup finals. But when I see other groups and teams like Slovakia and Switzerland who are probably goin' there..
