It is not fair enough . He promised to go back .

That was the reason they let him go in the first place

Milan want Beckham. Milan make offer for Beckham.

Now Galaxy have two options.

A) Reject

B) Accept

They can decide. If they select option A, Beckham stays. If they select option B, Beckham goes.

Or secret option C, tell Milan what they will accept, and when Milan make that offer Galaxy accept it.

Milan get their man.

Galaxy get their money.

Beckham gets his move.

What is not fair about that?

And they were naive to think that a top level footballer still harbouring ambitions to play international football wouldn't realise what he was missing out?

Seriously? They were that naive? No way.

only players i can think of are scholes, and to a lesser extent giggs. scholes, so i am told, just takes his accountant in with him, says what you offering, passes the figures to his numbercruncher and is done in a day. giggs i'd only say cos i don't remember any contract niggles being reported.

It is no wonder Squidge that things are the way they are when a man won't keep a promise because of money. If he was as good and honourable as you say He would go back to LA . He is setting a bad example.

Because of money? Isn't his contract at Galaxy worth more than Milan would pay him? He's on crazy money over there.

So wanting to go to a top club is setting a bad example? Because i'm not convinced that it's money in this case.

But even it is, fair play to him. Top bloke, and i would not begrudge anybody the right to earn as much money as they can. Why shouldn't he try and get as much as potential employers will pay? If i was selling as many shirts as him, if my every move was potentially news worthy and every action i took has the potential to seriously boost my employers profit i'd want a fucking big cut of it too.

Good luck to him.

Squidge, is he a top bloke and role model or not? He went to America turning down opportunities for top flight football across the globe (Milan may have even been after him then I think). He then goes and reeps his millions, neglecting competitive football. Now he goes to Milan and promises to go back to LA, only now he's got a taste for it and is saying he'd rather stay.

No wonder we're afraid of our youth

Beckham = Money grabber with limited talent
He certainly shouldn't be held up as a role model

All of which ties in to my previous post of basically, why not make as much money as you can?

Maybe he realised his mistake. I have no idea. But whatever, his life and his decisions. Who are we to judge him for where he chooses to kick a ball around?

And who is afraid of our youth? I am still the youth? How old are you before you're not a youth? Why be afraid? I'm not going to knife anybody, i'd rather have debates from behind a computer screen. That's not so scary.

Right whilst i disagree with your post let's just pretend for a moment that i concur.

So here is a man with limited talent, yet has made a shitload of money, more than he could ever really spend, from plying his trade in the business he isn't actually that good at? Other contributing factors are that he is good looking and so he is marketable, but that would mean nothing if he didn't initially start in football.

What the fuck is not to be admired about that? It's like, i despise Mika, but fair play to the guy for being a shite singer and still selling albums. I wish i could do that.

Whichever way i look at this Beckham gets my respect. I don't see the problem.

Squidge , he has pots and pots of money , he does not need it. He made a contract and an agreement he should honour those.

But WHY? If Galaxy sell at a price they are happy with then what on Earth is the problem? Ok, so if he forces a move then that's bad form, sure, but if they get a price that suits them then i can not see what the issue is.
