Richards is playing brilliant, lucky not to have scored 2. He's just took out 2 players from a corner too.

Richards nearly made it 3 there, good save from the keeper.

Would like to have seen this but, alas, I can't get santana. Sounds a good game, though. Unless you're all fibbing.

Well impressed with that Kightly on the right, also seems he has a decent left peg as well, Micah deserved his MOTM also Neds did okay to. just hope our foreign knobhead of a manager was watching.

It's weird he wasn't at Villa. We have Hart and Micah who are obviously very close, Neds and Johnno in the U21s, Studger getting there, plus Villa have a load of players close to the England set up. Shall I check that out, or shall I watch Terry, or Ferdinand, or whoever. Seems daft to me.

Great game, saw Ned, Micah, and Michael. Happy that they didn't get any knock. They played good, especially Micah he was superb in air.

Richards send timely reminder to Capello with goal for England U21s

Micah Richards gave a timely reminder to Fabio Capello of his desire to regain his place in the full England side.

The Manchester City defender, overlooked by Capello, scored and gave a commanding display from right back, the position in which Wes Brown and Glen Johnson seem to have overtaken him in the senior side.

Richards scored a 25thminute equaliser after England had fallen behind to an goal from Etien Velikonja on 12 minutes.

England hopeful: Micah Richards

The Slovenia forward latched onto a fine through ball from Nejc Pecnik and slipped a first time shot past Joe Lewis.

From there at least, England took control, with Richards the game’s most influential player.

He headed against a post in the 15th minute with Matjaz Rozman beaten and was then denied from the rebound. Ten minutes later, again from a right wing freekick, Rozman flapped under pressure from Richards and the defender was able to stab home into an empty net from inside the six yard area.

James Milner, captain in his 37th game at this level, put England ahead in the 35th minute with a neat turn on the edge of the visitors’ penalty area before drilling a right foot shot beyond Rozman.

Richards then twice almost extended the lead. Rozman produced a fine save to his right to deny another downward header and the goalkeeper again did well to stop another headed effort, this time from close range.

Slovenia’s slim hopes suffered a blow in the 64th minute when Pecnik was sent off for dissent, but by then England were in control.

Matt Derbyshire should have killed off the game in the 77th minute but he was denied by substitute goalkeeper Jan Koprivec.
