I think it is the problem of the national associations.
In Hockey GB compete at the olympics and the 4 national associations compete in other tournaments like the world cup, european cup etc
However representation in the GB side is dominated by the English. In fact when GB won in Seoul in 1988 there was 1 scot and 1 irishman in the squad of 16. wales had no one. The scot was the sub goalkeeper and only played in the last 2 mins of the final.

It is inevitable with the mess Labour made of devolution. Scots will be the real lossers they get 40% more spent on them per person than those in England. I would get rid of the lot of them personally. England would be a much better place for it.
