Had this bee in my helmet for a while so thought I'd share.

Anyone remember when the USA got the '94 World Cup and, it was rumoured, immediately lobbied to get the size of the goals made bigger to make the game more interesting?
At the time they were pilloried as brash newcomers who failed to respect the traditions of the worlds greatest loved sport blah, blah, blah.
The more you think about it though, the more sense it makes.

1912 - goalies are small.
2012 - goalies are tall.

Ergo, the goals should be made bigger.

The other thing that really bugs me is how the size of the pitch can alter! Stoke deliberately narrow their pitch to facilitate their horrible long throws.

......and breathe......

Apparently we have hit the woodwork the second most times in the premiership this season behind Liverpool. We would probably have won the league by now if they had been bigger.

Would be great but in order to do that maybe you'd have to make the balls a bit heavier.

The swerve you can get on the balls is silly and if a keeper is stood in the middle of his goal and the goals bigger and suddenly the balls takes a mighty swerve when someone has a shot, you possibly may have a 4-4 every other week.

And pitches should all be the same size.

The americans also wanted to scrub offside and have ad breaks controlled by the ref every 7 minutes.

An idea i had a long time ago, don't know if i seen it or dreamt it.

If someone is fouled in the penalty area it's a penalty.

If an attacking player is fouled in the attacking half then the ref should blow up, then the player fouled has 12 seconds to score a goal. Bit like a one on one with the keeper, start from the centre circle dribble with it and try and score a goal.

He could take a blast from 25 yards or try and take it round the keeper.

Like an ice hockey penalty? No offence but that's a terrible idea. The only thing I've ever thought might be good in football was something like the "half court" rule in basketball: once you've entered the opposition's half, you cannot go back into your half

The backpass rule seems to have improved football for the most part, I'd argue. Apart from when people scream for a backpass that clearly wasn't

The old duffer's right - size does matter!

I mean look at this massive shoe - it's awesome! So much better than a normal shoe! (To get an idea of scale some people can be seen on the right of the picture holding up normal sized shoes)

The Americans do/did this in one of their tournaments instead of penalty shootouts which should give you all the information you need about it being a terrible idea

Remember hearing a caller on Talksport last year suggested that penalty shoot-outs should be held before a game.
That way it takes away the lottery of it and the two teams would know exactly what they needed to do to progress once the game itself kicked off.

One of the most ridiculous ideas I've ever heard.

I've been to that town!
I can never understand a word they say as although they speak Spanish it is with a very thick brogue.

It's a stupid shoe. Why does the sole extend out from where it meets the leather like that, are they for walking on deep snow?
