But a shirt pull is also a deliberaate foul, but no way could you say it could it is violent..
or perhaps a hand-ball?

By definition a deliberate foul must imply violent conduct.

No it mustn't. 'Violence' is defined as 'behaviour involving physical force intended to hurt, damage, or kill someone or something' - it requires an intention to do damage. Bringing a player down with the intention of preventing him from going through on goal is not 'violent' as there is no intention to do damage to the actual player. Whilst damage may occur, it is the intention to do damage which separates 'violent conduct' from other offences; a reckless two-footed challenge with studs showing, for example, is not a case of 'violent conduct' but of 'serious foul play'.

Which makes contact can only do damage , therefore surely the fact that the player presents his studs in a 2 footed tackle implies that he knows what he is doing and therefore must have malice aforethought by knowing that he is going to hurt some one . The degree of hurt is irrelevant .

No because you can make such a challenge whilst going for the ball - if you miss the ball but hit the player you may hurt them, but you did not necessarily aim to do so as you were going for the ball, not the player. 'Violent conduct' requires intention to do damage, not a reckless disregard for any potential damage that may occur if you mistime your tackle. As ThunderinScitters mentions, a shirt pull is a foul that is usually done deliberately; the intention is to stop the player, not to do him any damage and so it fairly obviously falls outside the remit of 'violent conduct'.

Bert sorry you're just wrong by the way the laws of the game are applied today.

Totes. Bread is the amazing invention. Food for the masses, probably stopped the human race going extinct. Some fucker comes along and slices it and that's what goes down as the greatest thing of all time. If I'd invented bread I'd be livid.

This Cup is starting to lose it's appeal now by the sounds of it with Lambert more interested in staying in the PL than the FA cup along with West Ham.

Would it be too far of a stretch to say the winners of the FA cup get into the CL????

Give it a load more appeal.

When (if) we beat Blackburn we'll play Bristol City or Watford at home.

Good draw.

Enjoyed this quote from the beeb

Quote:
Swansea's win was their first ever at Old Trafford after two draws and eight defeats in their previous 10 visits.

As someone nearby pointed out, David Moyes' United keeps making history at Old Trafford. The only thing is that is for the opposing teams.
