For me it's Coods 0 - 1 SEC, and he's pressing hard for a second.

So you think we should "fuck Joe Royle?"

You know when you put things in speech marks it should be word for word what was said? It suggests a direct quote, which in this case would be "Joe Royle can fuck off calling Kinky a weak link".

hate to split hairs, but in that case it really should be:

"Joe Royle can fuck off - the man who made Jamie Pollock his captain reckons Kinky was a weak link?!"

EDIT: That is, to quote the point I objected to. Which started this whole discussion

Well I said both, your quote wasn't similar enough to either to suggest which one it was.

Royle actually said he was "my" weak link.

I took the inference that the rest of the team maybe thought they didn't have to try a hard when Kinky was playing, which meant he was more disruptive than beneficial. He was deffo a luxury player. Royle's preferred midfield creativity had a bit more bite about it - Bishop/Horlock/Tiatto.

That article seems to suggest Vinny was brought in after the take over. He wasn't. Like SWP, Zaba and Glauber Berti, he was brought in before the money was there, still under Thaksin's ownership.

That bugged me about Vinny's little bio there.

I noticed that to, Mark Hughes Football Manager signing (I used to sign Vinny on FM05 I think). One of the cheap upcoming players you could afford

Hmm, yeah I read it as just meaning the Mansour era. I suppose it's sort of correct.

I don't like the suggestion that Thaksin wasn't a lifelong City fan though

Joe Royle tried suing City, 'course he can fuck off. Fucking everton slag he was. Royle did FUCK ALL for us as a manager except put us back in relegation after a promotion at blackburn. He also bought wanchope, who as I recall, I'd give 5/10 for his performance for in our shirt.

I absolutely couldn't disagree more.

Royle had done a fantastic job with us and we fucked him off for Keegan as a thankyou. That turned out to be an inspired move but we didn't do well by Joe. Suing us? Meh. He was probably entitled.

"Royle did FUCK ALL for us as a manager"

Makes your point entirely.

How blinkered

He did an decent job for us but I don't see him as some kind of messiah. He was probably about 5 seconds away from being sacked in his first full season in charge.

I think Royle's achievements should be put into context with the state of the club he received. He's not a Messiah but deserves a lot of respect. I don't think he can manage in the Premier League, but he's the one that ultimately got us there. I was a regular season ticket holder from the mid-nineties and I saw it all. We worse than shit.

He changed all that and others have since built on it.
