I've lived in France for the last 7 years , so very rarely get information about City's matches. As such I don't comment on anything very often; I don't feel that I have anything to add.

BUT today's result has really prompted me to say something: after having spoken to a number of people back in the UK who are City fans, who did listen to the match, I do feel that today was a kind of protest from the players to Thaksin. What they don't understand is that a public insult to someone from an eastern culture is a huge loss of face. Such an insult is something that Dr Shinawatra CANNOT let slide! I cannot see the leaders of this protest will still be around next season. Does that mean that Dunne, Richards, Elano and Petrov who are perceived as leaders of players will still be around next season.

I've seen City play in such fantastic stadia as Turf Moor, Oldham, Blackpool... But at the end of one of the best seasons that I can remember, I feel worse than seeing us beating Stoke 5-2 and still being relegated. This is not good.

Am I just feeling bad from all the crap I've just had to take from all the ex-pat Scum fans, or do I have a point?

Well perhaps they know what it means to Thanks, ie. a big F You. and they have offers already lined up, which leaves the club well and truly up a creek minus said paddle.

That kind of protest would be unlikely to be allowed to slide no matter who the owner. It is deeply unprofessional, even in a game which means little in terms of the league. I don't know that I believe there was any kind of protest going on as such, rather than a general end of season apathy/one eye on the Fair Play standings (especially after Dunne had gone) but if it turned out there was, I would expect some kind of action to be taken.

It doesn't matter does it? That result stands. Stands for the rest of the club's history. It is a pain for us fans to bear, not for the players. If we are to believe the press, most of those players have got moves lined up. So what will a punishment mean? Means nothing anyway, as the scoreline stands.

Thaksin, the club, players and all, have let the fans down.
(as far as I can see)

Only Dune could go on the cheap though as all the others are on long term contracts and we will get big money for all of them.

So even if they have got offers lined up, this is pointless untill any prospective clubs matches our valuation of the player.

Given the number of City fans who travelled up, paying their hard earned money to watch the game, the idea of the players protesting is abhorrent. I honestly can't believe it would happen. I think it's more a case of playing for the fair play league.

The result is insignificant. getting in to Europe is not.

if this was a protest, it was a very stupid action and non-logical. they were embarassing themselves in the pitch, not Thaksin. european place is important and i hope we will get it

Player protest or not, it was hugely unprofessional and will not have done Sven any favours, plus I feel sorry for the fans that made the trip up to smogland to witness it.

Anyone hear anymore about the bother after the final whistle? I know they set the police dogs on the city fans but that's about it.

is everyone still backing sven? doesnt the performance of the players in the games since the rumours started about him leaving show that he is only in it for himself and stopped doing his job once he knew he was leaving?

No it doesn't. You're talking crap, and are beginning to come across as very anti-Sven, despite claiming otherwise.

I'd say BW has a point.

i know, i've been a regular for years!

i think my thing with sven is that i think he comes with a great reputation and connections and has the ability to attract very good players. But i dont know if he has the ability to get the most out of them in a style that will suit the premier league. and i dont know if the players have the respect for him that they should, whether he lost his motivation whilst at england.

Well that's fair enough, but surely after having met the targets for the season he should be given at least another season to build on it? If he doesn't then Thaksin can turn round and say "you haven't met our agreed target, see ya".

It's too late now anyway obviously, but we still maintain the right to moan

I accept that the decision to sack Sven if/when it's taken will be ludicrous. But i don't understand why, in most fans eyes, he is bulletproof. There have been enough questions over the season to justify the raising of the question, though doing it through the press is never a good idea!

One thing that is for certain is that Sven will come out of this smelling of roses. Reputation enhanced, decent payout/salary and his pick of a second tier European team hoping to break into their leagues top teams. He says he wants it sorted one way or the other; is this because Benfica are applying pressure on him to make a decision? The reports last week said that they wanted a quick answer.

If these are true, doesn't that suggest that he has really done quite a good job overall?
