Yes our boy, Benoit. Forever missed. I see his face pop up quite regular on FB as I am friends with his sister, and I am glad for it, she reminds me often of him which I love.

Seemingly every year for the past probably 6 or 10 years I have noticed a stronger campaigning for mental health and in particular men's mh. Very few of us escape these demons, I am not sure if it is because: humans are changing, mh is now actually being properly recorded compared to decades ago, or a combination. Either way it can only be a good thing that it is investigated more and there is some reduction in the taboo of the subject.

It's defo the breaking down of barriers. Mental health has nowhere near the stigma it once had. It's still there but it's a lot less than it used to be

There's a huge amount of publicity highlighting how common it is, how devastating it can be and where help can be sought, either via charitable organisations or professional services. Services which are sadly over stretched and under resourced to a scandalous degree. 1 in 4 of the population will be affected by mental health issues, and men are far more likely to complete a suicide attempt, but resources are being funneled to try and reduce the rates and people are more likely to seek help these days.

Think it's 11 years now since we lost our boy Benny.
Think the anniversary was a few days ago.

Just wanted to say, he's not forgotten and always in my head and heart.

Rest in power you daft sod.

11 years, wow, yes I also think of him regularly. Sadly, I read a year or so ago that Benny's sister also took her own life. She was a Mother and Wife to a happy family, but she did not cope with the loss of her brother. I am not trying to air grieving or to take a tragedy and sensationalise it, more that the knock on effect of suicide is horrendous. I cannot imagine what their parents, eldest brother and remaining family feel. That Benny took his life hurt, that his sister then did, has completely done my head in.

Seek assistance anyone with troubles please, speak to anyone, write/speak to me.

Christ, that's tragic. Just read the story in the back of that Danny. Poor family.

Hi friends.

I came back here as I saw on my Facebook memories it was close to the anniversary of Bennys passing. Benny was very kind to me when I was young and idiotic and thought I was a lot funnier than I was. He offered to send me his collection of hip hop cds and I turned it down and I've regretted it ever since.

Since I've been a regular here I've had a lot of troubles wirh mental health, but am probably better now than I've ever been quite frankly. This is not a boast, I just felt strongly I needed to come back and just say that for those struggling quietly, things can get better. Please talk to people, there will always be someone to listen if you keep looking.

I hope everyone is well, and safe in this wild time.

Hogey.

Emigre and I were talking about him the other day. I recounted the first time I met him.
I met with Paddy at a London hotel and he brought Benny with him .Drink was taken and we had a good evening.
I had to catch a train to France at 8 am so I packed in fairly early . When I left next morning they were still there.
