PLAYMAKER Ali Benarbia secured legendary status during a brief spell at Maine Road and now City fans will be purring at the chance to see him in action again.
The Algerian star will line up for the Blues as the North West Masters returns to the M.E.N. Arena.
And he's not the only star name with golden oldies lining up in squads from United, Bolton, Oldham, Blackburn and Leeds competing.
Benarbia was the creative genius in the City side that stormed to the First Division title in 2002, the fulcrum of Kevin Keegan's record-breaking side and was voted player of the season.
He was 32 at the time and a little slower than those around him but he was brilliant at creating space for himself and his instinct for a pass smacked of extra sensory perception.
Sadly, City fans will miss out on the pairing of Benarbia with another City legend - Georgi Kinkladze. The Georgian maestro was desperate to pull on the Blues shirt once again but wasn't able to get a work permit.
But tournament veterans Keith Curle, Wayne Biggins, Eric Nixon and Steve Redmond, who helped City lift the trophy five years ago are back in the side along with Mike Sheron, Fitzroy Simpson and Ian Brightwell.
United have been hindered by players such as Denis Irwin and David May missing on tours and holiday.
Their squad is made up mainly of former youth players including Colin McKee, Neil Whitworth, Craig Lawton, Wayne Bullimore, Phil Hughes, Sean McAuley and Giuliano Maiorana.
Andy Ritchie, who has lined up for the Reds previously, will join a strong Oldham side made up of key members of their successful side from the early nineties which reached the Littlewoods Cup Final and FA Cup semi-final, including Rick Holden, John Hallworth, Mike Milligan, David Eyres, Tommy Wright, Lee Duxbury, Tony Philliskirk and Darren Sheridan - brother of current Latics' boss John.
Bolton will also field a strong side which includes Alan Thompson, Julian Darby, David Lee, Neil Cox, Andy Walker, Brian Small and Andy Rhodes.
THE Screwfix North West Masters Cup 2008 takes place on Saturday at the M.E.N. Arena. Doors open at 6pm. Tickets priced £14 for adults and £10 for children available at
