I quite like the fact that they've paid £24m for a 29 year old injury plagued striker with one good premiership season to his name.
They're given him a four year contract and are paying him £200k a week and this should niggle with a few others in the squad especially if (when) he gets injured. This will use up most of their fantastic share listing cash and then some!

When I was down at the Olympics I got talking to a red and asked what he thought about getting RVP?
"I don't want the c*nt, he's got legs of cheese!"

Just about sums it up I reckon.

Hats off to Arsenal for getting £24m for a 29 yr old with one year left on his contract, who had announced to the world that he wouldn't be signing another one. Podolski and Giroud together cost them about that, and they're 27 and 25 years old respectively. Decent bit of wheeling and dealing by Wenger there. Rag fans must be very uneasy about adding RVP to their debt-riddled and aging team.

AS far as Utd are concerned I am far more concerned that the return of Vidic will improve them more than the addition of RVP.

I know which of the 2 I would rather have.

Vidic wouldn't be half so effective if he was pulled up for all the fouls he committed. He wouldn't get away with it any other team. Sick note who's best years are behind him. Poor man's Vinny.

That. Couldn't be bothered writing it. I'd stick with VK and JL all day long.

If RVP had signed for us there would be none of the above talk even though it would have been for more or less the same reasons he signed for the rags. Hes quality and although I'm still confident we've got the better strike force I really don't like him being at our biggest rivals.

I don't have a biggest rival, they're all rivals as far as I'm concerned, united fuck pigs are as much cocks as any other team. Maybe slightly more than most.

Does anyone else get the feeling that Ferguson is doing this in a desperate attempt to show City that they are still around, they still have clout? And now he is saying their forward line is as good as '99. If so then why did Berbatov nor Hernandez play for last half of the season?

RVP is no doubt a solid player to have on your team, but i must say he needs the ball all the time.. a good example is when he is with his national side, he has a wealth of talent around him to distribute and yet he is not half the player he is while at Arsenal. While international may be different from club.. if your going to be rated as one of the best striker I imagine you could shine internationally.. Must say not a fan of him going to the rags, but I think it was more a fergie move as mentioned above just to say "we can still buy big names too"...well enjoy paying the old man all that money...

-- I'd rather have our strikers personally, I never real saw RVP mixing well with they way we attack with silva, nasri, tevez, aguero..

I agree Danny

Big risk signing this by Taggart and i hope it goes badly wrong for all concerned.

Utter concurrence...
For sure they wanted rvp to show us that they are still contenders, and they would be without him..
But now, were are no longer noisy neighbours, were just better....not a lucky 5-1 where paul lake looks like he would explode with joy..We just had em..

Less of them, more of us...the champions..
