Hazard: I'll wear blue next season

May 8, 2012

Lille star Eden Hazard has dropped a hint that he will join Manchester City or Chelsea in the summer as he revealed he will "definitely" be wearing blue next season.

GettyImagesEden Hazard was present for Manchester City's 1-0 win against Manchester United last month

• Fergie: We can't spend like City
• Mancini: City perfect for Hazard
• Fergie confirms Hazard interest
• Hazard excited by United talk
• Ancelotti: Hazard not coming to PSG

Hazard, 21, has already stated his intention to move to England at the end of the current campaign and emphasised that desire last month, telling Canal+ after Lille's 2-1 win over Paris St Germain: "I have already said that my wish is to go to the Premier League."

Both Roberto Mancini and Sir Alex Ferguson have declared their interest in Hazard and travelled to watch him in action in France earlier this year. The Belgium international was also present for the Manchester derby last week and reports suggest he looked at houses in the Alderley Edge area of Cheshire.

Chelsea, who have signed three Belgians in the last year, have also been credited with an interest in the player.

When asked on whether he prefers red or blue - Lille's home kit is red - Hazard told Canal+ that he likes both colours but added: "It's the blue that I'll be wearing next season. Definitely the blue."

agree with that, also i think him choosing City over United would be such a sign of the blue moon rising... we are playing hardball too though lining up someone else (some guy from Montepillar spellcheck) as his wage demands are becoming too much or so ive read...

I can't help but feel that he would also drive AJ's game to a higher level. I can picture the training sessions where hey are trying to outdo each other.

Lille are preparing themselves for a £35m bid from Manchester City for Eden Hazard. The 21-year-old playmaker has indicated he is leaving the French side by saying on Twitter: "Two games more to play in the colours of Lille."

Maybe Lille are just getting a new kit?

Hazard confirms Manchester move.

Quote:
Lille ace Eden Hazard has confirmed that he will be playing in Manchester next season, but refused to reveal whether it will be at City or United.

Hazard's future has been the subject of intense speculation for some time with a host of clubs across Europe chasing his signature.

The Belgian international revealed over the weekend he would be quitting Lille at the end of the season after six years at the club.

So he's moving to Manchester and he's going to be wearing blue next season. Looks like it's between us and Oldham then.

Now that would be interesting. That would change our style of play, If Eden starts as a winger we may well see more of AJ too. Nowt bad about that.

It would, presumably, offer at least one or two options going forward. :D

Totally agree with this...i honestly think every time AJ comes on he scores that same epic left hook shot far post upper corner.... it would be real cool to see us play with 2 wingers, we need another option as we tend to really only work the ball down the middle, (minus the occasional cross) this would add so much width to our game and really makes us dangerous. Would come in real handy when we have those teams sitting back urging us to come forward... we could spread out that back four and really open up the middle with 2 wingers...

Scum or Chavs according to Talksport this morning.

If so, he can fuck off. He's probably no better than his dad Mickey.

Who's a London cabbie now.

I find this disappointing and a touch worrying.

Had Chelsea lost the other night, they would have finished 6th in the league and been in the second tier clubs like Newcastle and Everton etc.

However their victory puts them in a much better bargaining position vis a vis transfers.

There are clearly only 2 teams with financial clout in the league now, both similarly funded by the munificence of their respective owners. This must have agents rubbing their hands with joy. If Chelsea won't meet their demands they just come north and play one against the other and vice versa.

I would have thought (although it hurts to say it) that young and impressionable footballers might unbelievably prefer the bright lights of the metropolis to our city and that may be a deciding factor, but it will be the agents who decide where the players go.

But if he doesn't come to us, how can we still destroy football? It's not fair.
