MARK HUGHES is ready to make an audacious bid to sign West Ham stars Lucas Neill and Craig Bellamy.

Manchester City boss Sparky had both under his wing at Blackburn.

Hughes sold them reluctantly — striker Bellamy left for Liverpool in a £6million switch while defender Neill joined the Hammers for £1.5m.

Alan Curbishley is under pressure to reduce the massive wage bill at Upton Park and new City chief Hughes could make a move for the duo.

Bellamy and Neill are believed to earn £75,000- a-week combined.

Neill’s salary forced Turkish club Galatasaray to think again about signing the Aussie star, 30.

Bellamy, 29 last Sunday, scored 17 goals in 32 games while playing for Hughes at Blackburn.

Hughes also managed Bellamy during his time as Wales chief.

City owner Thaksin Shinawatra wants to sign a big-name star and has targeted Barcelona ace Ronaldinho.

But Hughes is keen to bring in players who know what the Premier League is all about.

PAUL DICKOV was last night offered a return to Leicester after the striker’s release from Manchester City

Hammers striker BOBBY ZAMORA has agreed personal terms with Fulham and is poised to seal a £7m switch.

Bellamy is an amazing striker. No one likes him and he doesn't care. I actually have admiration for him.

Give him half a sniff of a goal and he is all over like a fat kid on chocolate.

Where's Bellamy's preferred playing position? If it's on the right wing he would add the pace and width needed.

As got Neill, not too sure as to how good he is and if he is better than Nedum or Garrido.

No you don't, it's all paper rubbish.

Besides, wouldn't you rather be wrong and have city be good?

Not Mrs W, she'd have to buy more beer if she didn't cry in it so much.

I think Hughes is looking for squad players if this story is true.

Potentially we have a lot of games to play this season and look how thin we got last year even.

Not at all, I WANT to be proved wrong, as I am sure Slart does too.

Do we know where this story has come from? In fact I don't even want to know. It's bollocks anyway. How many players are left that once played for Hughes that we haven't been linked with yet? Can't be many.

I love seeing Lucas Neill in the green and gold, he plays with his heart on his sleeve and i love that in a player.

However, there is no way i would pay 75k a week for him, he is a solid player at best, a bit like Dunne really, just with a bigger ego.

People should be very wary of saying I told you so. You're in danger of being spidermanned by Humpty Dumpty.

Think most people on here had misgivings. I fully expect things to go tits up at some stage but that has nothing to do with Frank. Thats all to do with City being City. I'm just hoping we win something before disaster strikes.
