my boss, who is admittedly a stoke fan so has limited football knowledge reckons that we can't bid for the ugly scouse fecker cos we need to shed a load of debt before we do

He's probably referring to the annual report that represented the 100m loss or so, every club has debts to a degree. We're only going to bid for him in January, and we could pay the debt tomorrow cause we have big Khaldoon backing us up.

No, it's about the financial rules brought in by UEFA that require us to curb our expenditure in three years or we can't enter European competition.

The whole point of being obscenely rich is so we can tell rags to fuck off. It's not like a few years back where we had to take what we could get (eg. Andy Cole). We don't need another stumpy little trier who spends more time in the centre circle than he does the penalty area. The whole thing's a car crash, we should just steer clear.
