Glad he's on his way at last...... said all along he'll move to a lesser team he's not the player alot of fans claim he is. Mid table average team player at best just hope they hurry up n shift him out, get as much off the Milner price as poss. Happy days

Simple maths - BIG DOG SHIT + approx £18 mil = PFA Young player of the year + O'Neill in the dole queue

I will be genuinely sad when/if he leaves.
Close to my favorite player, and we have no-one like him in the team when he's on form.

I will always be a big admirer of Stephen Ireland Whether he's with us or not, something wasn't right with him last season, he'll be right this season. Also made me laugh at how he was just rated at £8million. Can't rememebr who said it but someone said Ireland is the most technically gifted player in the team.

basically he's not a left wing player, which is where he's looked shit a lot of the time. he was also injured/off the pace last season. whether the season before that was an aberration is unclear, but the way he linked up with swp and robinho, and his general play, made him look on par with an interested robinho.
irelands best season >>>>> milner last season.

One thing's for sure, he will be fucking awesome for Villa.

I'd rather we paid the full whack for Milner and sell Ireland to someone like Sunderland, including a buy-back policy in the contract like Real Madrid use. Sell him to a mid table club for £10m with the stipulation that we can buy him back within two years for £15m if we want.

yep, and score a hat trick against us.

that would be ideal, if we really have to move him out. then we can re-sign him when mancini gets sacked for failing to win everything in the next two years.

He hadn't forgotten, he just wasn't supporting the club at the time...

Ireland was great in the 2007/8 season; he was the supporter's player of the year. He clearly had difficulties last season and that will work against him now. He is one of the most gifted players we have and I'd be sorry to see him leave but if it means he gets his playing career back on track then I wish him well.

Unbreakable is a tool. If he is a Manchester City supporter then he is one of a new breed that is lowering our stock.

I will be disappointed to see Ireland go, i like him. When he's on his game he has to be one of the finest passers of the ball in the Prem. My only question is if he is consistent enough to play at the highest, highest level. City have moved on from the young kid that started 4 or 5 years back. Back then, City were inconsitent so it didn't matter if Ireland was also.

I wonder if he is of the absolute top quality that is needed to be in a top 3 side.

when on form? certainly. the question is not so much ability as consistency. and ireland really seems like a player who needs an arm across his shoulder.

It is about consistency. That's the difference between players at the top, and players further down. They all have ability, it's just a question of how often they can come up trumps.

oh i know, last season he lacked it, season before he didn't. got to wonder what the difference was really. know he was off it and had some weird vertigo thing, then injuries and a lack of opportunity/taking opportunity to cement his place again. got to wonder if mancini just thinks he's being a ponce, rather than thinking he needs a bit of support/geeing up...

I think that we all love the Ireland of old, but we've not seen that player for a fair while now. SWP is the same - great when he's great, but not been so for some time now. We need players who are giving their full game in, game out, and Ireland just won't cut it for us. Can you see him getting into the Chelsea or Man Utd squads? This is how we need to view players now. If we want to win the league, which has to be our long term goal, we need to look at who is winning the league now, and whether players in our squad would make it into their first eleven, If not, why are they on the books? Ruthless, but we need to be so.
