Prolly want this

Hart
Given
Taylor

Boateng
Richards
Kompany
Toure
Lescott
Ned
Zabaletta
Kolarov
Bridge

Johnson
SWP(Milner)
De Jong
Barry
Silva
YaYa
Viera
Ireland
Bellamy

Tevez
Adebayor
RSC

That's 24, including RSC who will prolly only play in the third round of the fa cup. Funny as it sounds but we really need another good forward, prolly two if we get ballotelli as he is under 21

the rest is dead wood

whine and bitch until we sell him to some greek side at a huge loss. i'd bet against him playing in a city shirt in a competitive match again.

I really dont understand this rule!

So, is it purely for the League the 25 man squad?

What about

Europe fixtures
FA Cup
League cup

Are players not in the 25 allowed to play in the other competitions?

As 25 players doesn’t seem a lot for potentially 60 ish games a season and wouldn’t benefit the national team if this were the case. On the flip side, would players be happy to be only eligible for non league fixtures?

Outside of the 25 you can have as many home grown U21’s as you like?

When he arrives at his next club he'll declare undying love for them and swear he'll spend the rest of his career there.

About two weeks later he'll claim he was duped, is unhappy and wants to move on.

we have ordered him back from santos for 4 August, so we'll see what the scrote will do

i would put a good chunk of change on jo getting into the 25 man squad ahead of him

If you look back there is a link to the premier league which explains all.

This 25 squad is just for premier League games, must contain at least 8 home grown 25 players over 21, U21s can be added to the squad without restriction.. The squad must be notified to the league immediately after the close of the transfer window on Aug 31 and can only be changed at the next transfer window in January when up to 3 changes will be allowed.

effectively rendering the january transfer window irrelevant.

I fail to see how this will help to improve the England team!

The only thing it will do is tire English players more and dramatically change the league over the next few years.

It will make home grown players even further over priced, and not increase quality.

Bear in mind that you generally have a few long term (more than 6 weeks) injuries over a season, Id say at least five. This will make a squad of 20!

Well, when the injuries come, teams may have to dip into their pool of unlimited under 21 players. I think one of the links H3T posted said that 85% of under 21 players in this country are under 21. So it would follow that if teams do have to start using their under 21's, a fair amount of young English players are going to some big match experience. Which is a fairly obvious benefit to the national team.

I don't think it's a terrible idea.

Why? 85% seems a rather large and healthy number to me.

Meh, i can the logic behind the idea. Not that i care about it helping the national team, but i can see how it would help.

kids get a run out in the first team anyway, and always have done if good enough. this just puts a premium on having ones that are good enough to use for a couple of matches when the injuries bite, thereby fucking the poorer teams as they will just get raped by those with money. the good kids will be pooled in a few teams, and everyone below them will have a substandard pool of players from which to draw.

that or clubs import young foreign talent, ala fabregas, balotelli, ireland etc, which won't help the national team much either.
