From the MUEN

Quote:
City target James Milner has been told that he can leave Aston Villa for the right price.

Villa boss Martin O'Neill said the England midfielder can go after Milner expressed his desire to leave the club.

A reported £20m bid has been rejected but the Blues are still keen to secure the 24-year-old.

O'Neill, who is in Ireland on a pre-season tour, said: "I had a conversation with James before the World Cup and he intimated that he'd like to go.

"I'd imagine things will be resolved in foreseeable future.

"City made an offer but it did not meet our valuation. I'm sure matters will be resolved soon.

"James is back next week having had extended holiday."

City manager Roberto Mancini, in New York on the Blues pre-season tour, has said that Milner remains on his shopping list along with US international Landon Donovan and Italaian teenage star Mario Balotelli.

However, Mancini, who has already spent around £60m on Jerome Boateng, David Silva and Yaya Toure, insisted that the Blues will not bend to all demands despite their considerable spending power.

"When Manchester City want to buy a player, other clubs ask much more than is normal," he said.

"This is not good and it is not right. Until today, it is only City that are moving the market.

"We have bought three good players already. But now Inter Milan, for example, are asking a lot of money for striker Mario Balotelli, and we want to wait.

"We are interested in good players like Balotelli and Milner but we have time before the market closes in August. We have a lot of different choices."

It's true. We've signed Lady Gaga. Mancini has claimed this will solve out left back problem.

Just getting linked with him is enough to piss them off. We don't need to do another Lescott deal. One is more than enough :D.

I love Aston Villa to the core, but you're mad if you think Citeh can't offer Milner more than we could. There a team taking on the world. It's also a lovely romantic notion that Young is staying for reasons more than nobody better than us wants him. I don't agree that the bitter pill would be easier to digest if he had decided to go to Chelsea or Man Utd. Why does that make any difference?

I think it grates on us the fact that City fans have had a massive piece of luck. The same sort of luck we had when Randy Learner took over. We've got a passionate Foreign Jewish bloke looking to make money the same way they've got a passionate foreign Muslim bloke looking to make money.

I'm as romantic about football as anyone and I'd love nothing more than to be sat in my beloved seat in The Trinity Road Stand surrounded by fellow brummies watching kids from the city of Birmingham come through the system, but it's never going to happen. We as a club are as plastic as anyone. I think I'm the only bloke where I sit with a brummie accent. We, as a club, jumped on money roller coaster along time ago and we're as much to blame for commercialising the game as anyone.

You're artical is childish and full of holes; Just like Birmingham City's defence next season. I hope!

Great post tbf

maybe, maybe not. depends who goes, his versatility would be useful, and the homegrown thing is probably playing a factor.

Every summer we seem to go on a team rebuilding exercise. The top teams on the other hand maybe add one or two quality players which gives then stability rather than starting a season with a bunch of strangers no matter how good they may be.
If our transfer policy has been so shite over recent windows that constant team rebuilding is required, then questions need to be asked, and IMO it's Garrrrry that needs to be answering them.

if by "questions asked" you mean "bullets fired at", and by "answering them" you mean "taking a face full of them"... then yes. yes he does.

Conk. I think a lot of this comes from the regular changes of manager. It was declared last season that we wouldn't go on a major spending spree again. Looks like that was bulllshit.

I'm glad Garrrrry hasn't been popping up and making a tit of himself this time. Still, we have a few more weeks to go for him to declare that Messi and Rooney are going to sign for us.
