The marquee signing we've all been waiting for. I think everybody on this thread mentioned they wanted him.

http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Academy-news/2010/June/City-sign-Alex-Henshall-from-Swindon-Town

Promising winger Alex Henshall has joined the City Academy from Swindon Town.

16-year-old Alex is one of the country’s most highly rated players in his age group, playing for the England Under 16 side last season as well as being named on the bench for Swindon’s first team by Robins’ manager Danny Wilson on several occasions.

He is pictured on the right after one of his two substitute appearances in the Victory Shield, and he started against Belgium for the England Under 16s last February.

Henshall joined Swindon as an eight-year old and his subsequent progress saw the club offer him a four-year contract when he was 12.

City’s Head of the Academy Mark Allen has welcomed Alex’s arrival at the club by saying,

“We are delighted to welcome Alex to the Academy. He will provide excellent balance on the left hand side of the field and is an exciting addition to our existing group of players. We are looking forward to helping him develop even further following on from the good start to his career he had at Swindon Town.”

Last young winger we signed from Swindon was Mike Summerbee.

If he's as good or better than him I'll consider it a decent acquisition.

I do like that we are gleaning local talent. Good stuff.

Agreed. And Podolski - but apparently he's only able to score for his country - I may have to rethink that one.

I've always liked Podolski, but then I've only ever watched him for Germany, so maybe that's why. But surely it's only a case of the right team coming along and playing him in the right system to replicate it at club level? He's still only 25 too. That Ozil fella looked good though, but it was against Australia.

And a left back. And a right back if he isn't planning to play Boateng there (which I hope he plans to).

That deal for Dzeko sounded like it was pretty much done and dusted a couple of weeks ago but it's gone quiet now... Anyone know what the latest is?

Dzeko has said he wants to go to Italy (Juventus).

Forget about him.

I thought Elano of Brazil took his goal well.

Should we put in an offer for him?

Oh, and that Gelson something-or-other that plays for Switzerland. Ferdinand or Hernandez or something stupid like that.

That Forlan looks ok.
I seem to remember him from somewhere.
