"Man City appealed over Mariga work permit at hearing at Wembley this morning. Attended by reps from club, FA, Prem Lge, PFA & ex-pros. Mariga had played enough games for Kenya to get permit but scuppered by Kenya's world ranking of 98. They needed to be ranked 70 or above. Man City can launch another appeal in a future transfer window but will not be able to register McDonald Mariga as a player in this one."

Rags would have got a work permit for sure. Not that we particularly needed this player but still, point of principle.

I've never understood all this refusing a work permit nonesense. He's going to be on thousands of pounds a week, which can be taxed and the country refuse to let him in?

Exactly. It's not like we're going to sign an English kid as a replacement. They are overhyped and overpriced.

His Wiki page says
Quote:
Fernando Rubén Gago, nicknamed "El Pintita", (born 10 April 1986 in Ciudadela, Buenos Aires) is an Argentine football midfielder, who currently plays for Manchester City, and the Argentina National Football Team.

Gotta love the rumours.

Mariga: jumped the deal for the residence permit,
that at this moment is very close to signing with Inter

There will probably be an attempt by the City to take Cristian Ledesma, but it is very difficult for the little time available

Well the window is closed so it's either done or it isn't.

With minus 25 mins to go at your time of posting I'd say it would be nigh on impossible rather than difficult.

Yes but my post is more considered than yours. More thought went into it.
