I would personally not be happy with Zabs being our holding midfielder and feel Barry is better utilised elsewhere. Zabs as cover for 1 or 2 matches maybe but not more than that. Ideally somebody younger would be best but getting the right person who is available isn't easy and the good thing with Viera is that he has a wealth of prem experience at the highest level.

I feel a 6 month loan is a no lose situation.

I'd be fine taking him on loan till the end of the season but I don't think that's on the cards is it? I just don't want us to get trapped into paying him silly money on a medium length contract, which is the situation Inter seem to be in and are trying to get out of.

I think Zabs can do a job at DM - when he played there against Wigan last season (and he scored the only goal of the game) I remember thinking it was as good a performace as I've seen from someone in a City shirt.

DM against Wigan I don't have a problem with but against spurs/chelsea/scum etc then I don't think he would be up to the job.

Javier Zanetti after today match against Chievo said "goodbye" (:D) to Patrick, with special thanks for his seasons at Inter.
The interview has been uploaded in the official FC Inter site.

Sono orgoglioso di poter dire di aver giocato con lui, ci dispiace che se ne vada." -> We'll miss Vieira, such as player and man, I wish him a brilliant career.. Inter, goodbye Vieira

L'Equipe: "After one year in Turin and more than 3 in Milan, it's finished. I have important target and I can't miss them waiting the coach choices. I'm going to Manchester City, to demostrate Mancini that I'm still Patrick Vieira, the same player he managed 2 years ago, and to get from the French Team the World Cup call.

we need a general on the pitch and I feel Viera was always mancinis general, as to how many games he plays etc is irrelevant, we have got ourselves a decent midfielder who can add steel, guile and intelligence to the side...we have witnessed Mancinis tactical nous up to now and long may his tinkering continue if it brings results...

Having a medical this afternoon apparently. Didn't realise he was still France's captain.

Even better.

Sounds like he's pretty keen to make a point before the world cup, so might be an alright short term acquisition.

vieirà is a winner with winning mentality
at MC only Tevez and robinho have win something of important but they aren't a leader
vieirà always knows what to do with the ball... in any situation...
he's run less that 2/3 years ago...
but he has an innate sense of position and always knows where will the ball first
i think that he's a good choice for you

I am unclear after reading the press reports etc as to whether we asked him to come or whether he told us he was coming, like it or not.
