Manchester City enter £12million Guiza hunt

Manchester City Football Club have entered the race to sign Dani Guiza.



The Spanish international became a La Liga sensation last season, when he scored 27 goals in the competition without a single strike coming from the penalty spot.

He was also a hero for La Roja in their successful Euro 2008 campaign, and it is believed Mark Hughes is willing to meet the valuation of £11.9million to make him his first signing as City boss.

"I wait to formally receive the offers this week, so that I can study them and to decide with Real Mallorca,” said Guiza’s agent Nuria Bermudez to Sky Sports. "The decision may not be announced this week.”

What's the rest of his career been like though? Bianchi came to us after 1 season of scoring a lot of goals. But if he's that good, then why have we only heard of him when he's 27? James Beattie, anyone? Kevin Phillips? Andy Johnson? Any striker can have one good season.

Bianchi never had a real chance. Ok, he didn't settle, but whenever he did play, he scored goals. I don't think him up front on his own helped neither.

That's bollocks and you know it.

RM were in a stronger position (league standingswise) last season and had a poor second half of the season threatening their league status, despite the 27 goals he knocked in.

His movement off the ball is admirable. He would be agreat 3rd striker acquisition.

Not sure when he joined Mallorca (or if he was alwasy with them) but 2 seasons ago Mallorca were bottom 1/3 table and in bad shape, they buoyed a little the next season and last season and maybe that was due to him, haven't followed them or him enough to know. I have only really seen him in Euro09 and thought he was hot and cold. Thasall.

Agree, we already have too many strikers. We got rid of Mpenza and Dickov, even that so we have around 8 strikers at the moment.

Let's start thinking of a good replacement for Hamann!!

Guiza has signed a 4 year contract with Fenerbache.
