Nope, was the 1st September, I remember it as it was yesterday with the takeover and then SSN going mad with who we was going for.

You're probably right - thinking about it, 31/8/08 would have been a Sunday.

Yup, certainly was. I remember been at work in the p*ssing rain, iPhone in hand with mud all over the screen, and me constantly reloading Sky Sports to see what was happening with City. Was a great day, even though I practically drowned my iPhone! :p

Thank God we didn't get Bentley. Happy we've kept hold of Petrov though! :D

Holding on to Petrov was better than a surprise signing. :p

True. That's what I didn't understand, he has the quality to get into the team, but he doesn't believe he can as it means him having to work hard. We've kept him and I think he can play a vital part, especially as an impact sub - when defenders get tired and then have the pace of Petrov attacking them. He'll do well as an impact sub and could undoubtedly do great things for us in the cups.

To be fair Petrov's been pissed off all summer and it didn't effect his contribution in the preseason games, banging in 3 goals including the winner against former conquerers of Europe Barcelona. As long as he keeps channeling his frustration in this way we have a very dangerous player on our books.

He has, he's played great when given the chance. It was more behind the scenes I was thinking of.
