Robinho has revealed his disappointment at Manchester City's decision to offload Elano.

The Blues have sold the Brazilian midfielder to Turkish outfit Galatasaray for £8million, helping to recoup some of their substantial outlay this summer.

Having struggled to hold down a regular role in the City first-team last season, his exit was widely expected.

His former team-mate and international colleague Robinho has questioned the decision, though, believing his countryman still had a role to play at Eastlands.

He admits he tried to dissuade Mark Hughes from sanctioning a deal, but was ultimately unsuccessful in his endeavours.

Project
"I am very sad to see Elano go because he was a team-mate and has been a friend for many years," Robinho said in the Daily Mirror.

"I understand the decision but I always believed that he would be part of this project. I never believed the rumours and I will miss our dinners and meetings.

"I wish and believe that Elano will be king at his new club.

"City have made some great signings and it has been made complicated for some players.

"But I have spoken many times with the coach and praised Elano but it was the decision of the club and impossible to change."

if it does i have no doubt he'll be sold. whether we have a good start or repeat last seasons flirtation with the bottom half of the table will dictate if it is hughes doing the flogging in january, of course.

Yeah, that's becoming apparent, including gagging players thoughts on Mgt decisions.

The person he should have had words with should have been Elano. They should have been "stop being a twat" and "stop being so shit".

In Portugese maybe, but that is what they should translate as.

Now, that's not very constructive is it?

He's disappointed that a friend has left the club. That's about it.

He said only a few days ago that he'll be here for the next 5 years.

It would have been fair though.

I don't shit my pants when I read stories about Robbie being uphappy as much as I used to. He's not our one star player anymore. I love him to bits but he should just be happy with having top quality team mates around him now, he can still have dinner with Elano but he was never gonna be alongside him lifting up a CL medal.

He's actually a difficult player to build a team around, it is because of him we play 4-3-3.

I heart him but, yeah, there would be life without him.

If things continue to progress well, Robbie might find himself in a similar position to elano . Lets hope he shows a better attitude than him.

Stop being so fucking dramatic HHHT.

Robinho says he is sad to see a friend leave but he understands the decision.

Oh no, it's all going to go horribly wrong. Save us all.

I'm not being dramatic, I just hope that it won't escalate, that's all. And I'm always dramatic, that bit is unalterable.

What's to escalate. He said he understands the decision. You were being over dramatic. You should consider a job as a headline writer for the red-tops.

Wouldn't mind that to be fair.
