Well to be fair, we could already do that and have Zabaleta at RB.

Besides Corluka claimed at one point that CB was his favoured position.

Name one thing Garry Cook has done wrong. Show ambition? Try to bring the best to our club? That bastard.

Nothing wrong with ambition, but identifying and securing realistic targets helps. Like Squidge said earlier, now the likes of Everton will ask for way over the odds for players like Lescott. Cook has set a bench mark that we are now having to live with.

But we have the money to pay the fee, and besides, I think we can do better than Lescott.

This statement was posted on chelsea's official site. I'd imagine Terry had fuck all input into it. He was probably told he wouldn't be given permission to speak to us unless he handed in a transfer request and realistically that was never going to happen. Got a feeling we haven't heard the last of this.

Nah, it's dead in the water now.

To be fair i think Al Fahim is more to blame for inflated prices than Cook. All his mouthing off on the day of the takeover, telling the world who we would sign and just how fucking loaded we are.

I kind of agree about identifying realistic targets, but the fact it has taken John Terry three weeks to make a statement tells me that this was a possibility. "I was never going to leave" does not wash with me. Also, i believe identifying targets is Hughes area. The owners are backing him to the hilt. We know where we want to be, why mess about signing very good players when there is the potential to sign great ones?

I'm happy with the way Cook and Hughes are doing their job. They'll make mistakes in this area, certainly, but that's to be expected.

Not surprised at all by Terry.

Ambitious taken a step far IMO.

I don't hate, I just don't think he's as good as Corluka. I'm not as taken with Zabaleta as most people, but I don't object to him. Useful utility player.
