David Beckham hits back at 'unprofessional' Landon Donovan
David Beckham has criticised the "unprofessional" conduct of Los Angeles Galaxy team-mate Landon Donovan for his comments questioning the England midfielder's commitment to Major League Soccer.

Beckham, who has returned to America following his five-month loan to AC Milan, said he had not spoken to Donovan, who called him a bad captain in an upcoming book "The Beckham Experiment," written by Grant Wahl.

"It's unprofessional in my eyes. In every football player's eyes throughout the world it would be unprofessional to speak out about a teammate especially in the press and not to your face," Beckham said.

"But I'm going to turn it on a positive spin because that's what this needs. But in 17 years, I have played with the biggest teams in the world and the biggest players and not once have I been criticised for my professionalism. It's important to get this cleared up and I will be speaking to Landon either this evening or over the next couple of days."

Beckham, however, does not feel there will be a problem in the dressing room when he returns to pre-season training on Monday.

"It will be different coming back, but I don't see any problems."

The Galaxy could use a boost. Los Angeles could miss the playoffs for the fourth consecutive year.

"That's the important part," Beckham said. "Now we want to move forward and there have been some good results in the last few weeks."

This is the same Bekham who called the US league "uncompetitive" and tried to bail out of LA Galaxy to extend his stay in Italy and, later, to make his move permanent.
