I am delighted to get this done. The suggested price of £22mil is too expensive. £15mil would be more about right but I have no problem with this. We have the money and now we have a superb left footed CB that can score goals.

The final piece of this particular jigsaw falls in to place.

Didn't he scored an overhead kick against us last season or the season before? It was something like that. I remember it was an awesome goal and thinking "I don't believe a centre back's scored a goal like that against us. Only City...".

:D

I don't agree Bert. Who is better? And the fuss element of it was caused by Moyes. Not much we could have done about that.

I was struggling for a name but I'm sure there's players out there.

I like the fact that he's English though and we know that every team has to pay a premium for that for some reason.

We have the look of a very decent back four now, plenty of midfielders if a bit short on creativity maybe, two top drawer strikers in Ade and RSC and decent backup in Bellamy.

Competition in almost every spot now I think?

Elano would have flourished in our new team, the best vision and passer weve had for a long time. Too bad he was a twat.

He needs stars around him. Also a manager that is prepared to suck his cock.

Aye. Well he was gash, so didn't deserve to be a part of this team. His loss.

Ive had this argument before. I think he will be a very fine player but his attitude was a bit shit. I still think he was ok for us. He wasnt the only passenger

If you could be arsed digging out the old threads, the last 2 months of the season everyone was loving him on here. I know this isn't doesn't make up for being mediocre a lot of the time before, but he certainly wasn't gash for us. He could still pick a pass better than anyone in our team even when he was having a bad game, and I'd like to know how many points he earnt us by his refusal to miss a penalty.

^^^^^^^^ This

He could be shit all day but we all knew he was only 1 pass away from picking the lock and winning us the game with a sublime through ball

Sturridge stealing his penalty when elano was trying to cement a spot in the team was the beginning of the sour attitude i think. Cant blame him. I would have punched the cocky lil twat and taken the ball off him

It wasn't even the last two months. It was about four games from Hamburg onwards.

He had some games. He's a very gifted player, but he was by and large shit for us. (October onwards his first season, and then uptil April in his second).

Glad we're rid of him.

Elano was a good player but would not get in our starting XI this season, he knew that, we knew that, hughes knew that, we cant afford a player like him in the starting XI because we could wait all match for brilliance and it would not come, we are much more balanced with grafters like stevie, barry, dejong, kompany and swp and we are graced with the flair and brilliance of tevez and robinho...so elano went, fair play.....not good riddance but thankyou for helping us to make the next step and theres no better penalty taker in the world IMO

If I had to pick someone to take the final and potential winning penalty in a World Cup Final shootout, I'd pick Ballack.

When Elano wanted to he could be a great player when it mattered,Hamburg game in particular.I think first season with it being knew to him i wasn't too bothered that he faded out late in the season, then last season if i'm not mistaken he scored agaisnt Villa first game then dropped next game. I don't think he wanted to be a bit part player hence some of the shitness he has shown, but i will always remember him for that free kick against the barcodes. Scored a cracker for Galatasray to other week.

Wasn't getting a very positive vibe from Hughes on Dunnie there... I reckon this could be the end for El Monstre (although I have thought this before).

Who's the next longest servig player out of interest? One of the academy grads - Ireland or Richards?
