the more i look at these the more i wonder why we signed barry at all. i mean... he's 27/28 (or is her closer to 30?) and we have plenty defensive mid cover, so is he meant to replace ireland or provide cover for him, or do we stick them both on and ditch the idea of evenly balanced wing play, and have one winger, or just keep it narrow with an 4-3-3 and ditch the wingers in the forward three and have tevez robbi and rsc, or what. play ireland on the right, petrov on the left, barry and dejong/zabs in the middle, and two of tevez/santa/robbie/bellend up front?

If we play 4-3-3 it will be De Jong or Kompany with Ireland, Barry. what Barry will do is the box to box work and link play from DM to AM with De Jong/Kompany not coming to far forward and Ireland not going to far back but Barry will be all over the place.

Quick slow, quick quick slow.

Squad. Camp it ... up!
Soldiers (mincing in unison) Oooh get her! Whoops! I've got your number ducky. You couldn't afford me, dear. Two three. I'd scratch your eyes out. Don't come the brigadier bit with us, dear, we all know where you've been, you military fairy. Whoops, don't look now girls the major's just minced in with that dolly colour sergeant, two, three, ooh-ho!

stevie has to start in my opinion...he was our best player and would easily crack the epl best 11 last season...its insane not playing him!

I can't believe I missed this post. Are you fucking serious, Timps. You don't think Ireland, the best young player in the Premier League last season, will start? Get a grip man. He has to start. For certain. In the middle alongside Barry.

I think that I was just adjusting a previous post mate, can't remember.

I would have both SWP and Ireland in the team, glad I don't have to decide, that's what hughes gets the big bucks for - someone at some point is going to get pissed off

Its
's all going to be about rotation. Fair enough, we aren't in Europe but if we're going to get to the semifinal or better of the domestic cups, we're still looking at a near 50 game season

BARRY & IRELAND through the middle (oops just messed my undercruds)

ROBINHO, TEVEZ & ETO up top (woops done it again)

Right then... Latest attempt:

...Given...
...(Taylor/Schmeichel)...

...Richards...Dunne (C)...<<NEW PLAYER>>...Bridge...
...(Zabaleta)...(Onuoha)...(<<NEW PLAYER>>)...(Garrido)...

...Kompany...
...(de Jong)...
...Ireland..................Barry...
...(Elano)...(Johnson)...

...Tevez............................................Robinho...
...(Wright-Phillips)...(Bellamy)...(Petrov)...
...Adebayor...
...(Santa Cruz/Bojinov)...

I put Dunne in because of those reports about him being captain still next season. Can fiddle about with the CBs depending on new arrivals.

I Like This formation.
I see what hughes is trying 2 do. Have a Backup for the master player , but the back up 2 have as much skill as the master.

Does this all make sense?

Good post, wonder if we'll actually sign two centre-backs though.
I would hope that Zabaleta will start at right back over Richards, certainly until he has a dip in form and then Richards can have his chance.
I also think Elano's off-ski's

That team is bloody brilliant though, have to hope it can gel properly and then we're laughing. The best thing is that I don't think any member of our first eleven is particularily susceptible to injury. How long has it been since that's the case? We may actually manage to field our first choice eleven all at once next season :D
