BRAZILIAN defender Marcelo Mattos has emerged as a transfer target for Manchester City.

New manager Mark Hughes is ready to battle Portsmouth in the race to sign the Panathinaikos star.

The Greek side have valued him at around £5m, which would be no problem for Hughes who will be given all the financial backing he needs to bring success to Eastlands.

But he knows he will have to scrap it out with Harry Redknapp for Mattos, with the 24-year-old undecided about his preferred destination.

Really could start shouting " just like watching Brazil
" at this rate

Panathinaikos are a sollid side in the greek league and if there saying this guy is a star there then he must be a good player.
I think if dunne resigns we should purchase him or one other defender as cover. If Dunne doesnt resign get two expirianced back to fight for the position
